Why the Freemasons of England didn't help in the American Revolution?

Pretty much the French and the German Free-masons gladly supported Washington's troops. Were the British Free-Mason agaisnt the war of indepence?

They were opposed to not being allowed to set their own tax rates.

I suppose national ties were stronger than Freemason ties.
