agreed...good debating deserves well thought-out judging.

And just so you can breathe a sigh of relief, I'm removing myself from the judging pool. That's one less feeble-minded judge who follows the logic of juggernaut being more durable than galactus that you have to worry about. 😉

That's up to you man.

We're going to revisit that discussion one day btw. You're changing your mind, whether you know it or not 😎

Protracted discussion of debating aside and going back to an earlier point...

I think that 99% of perceived insults in matches are not intended. Most debaters realize that they must walk the line of being vehement about their plan (and against their opponents' plans) while trying to maintain proper respect. It's a fine line, because if you're too respectful you miss out on debating opportunities, and if you're too scathing about an opponent's plan it can come across as insulting.

So. Thicker skin, all around, please. It will make for a more amenable tourney, since in-fighting is usually the stuff that makes tourneys suck.

Funny how all the players in the active battles were involved in this discussion and the battles themselves have been inactive.

Jake wasn't.

He's busy writing something legendary.

I hope. mmm

I got my first post done, but waiting to see if Galan posts so I can add more to mine.

maybe he's waiting for you to post so he can add more to his 😱

Maybe, but he wasn't off of work till today so I bet he is reading what we have so far.

Me and Kandy tag team topics.

...I'm just lazy.

Maybe I'll post again tonight.

I haven't been posting because 90% of Smurph's post related to Onslaught, and he's id's character. There wasn't really much for me to address.

Gotta let Galan and KM have a little of the limelight 😄

I'll be posting soon(ish). Been dealing with RL the past few days.

Same for me, but Loki is the one mostly being debated. I got some counters for my characters, but would be a waste of a post as there wouldn't be much.

this is hilarious (and i don't even know what a 'tosser' is . . . 😕 ) seriously. never did i personally insult either KB or KM. poke fun at some strategies? of course i did. and will continue to do so i'm afraid if i feel they logically deserve being made fun of. i just call it like i see it. do i always use that type of tone? of course not. read my match with smurph, or with digi. my massive debates with masters or GS. my tone reflects the strategies employed against me--they do NOT reflect upon the competitors themselves. ever. and what did i do exactly that was so 'evil'? dropped a few "lol's", a few cracks? you have GOT to be kidding me . . . that's not disrespect--that's tourney-talk.

my apologies if i haven't somehow lived up to all the 'hype'! LOL never knew i had anything to live up TO! in the event you're unaware--i compete in tournies for the fun of it. i happen to LIKE back and forth banter and figured the 2 of YOU would have thick enough skins to be able to handle it and not turn it into a 6 page issue in the tourney thread! guess we're BOTH disappointed. 😬

all the talk of straw-manning is ridiculous in the extreme. read the posts. point out places where i FAILED to logically counter any points yet raised. that's your job. i may poke some fun, but underlying that i logically outline WHY i feel the point is deserving of being poked at. judges are bright enough to understand that--or they always have been at least.

and charlotte--my loss to bw had NOTHING to do with the tone of my posts (though in THAT match the tone WAS as caustic as i've ever been). i lost THAT match because a defense i'd used in the PREVIOUS 2 RDS was ruled illegal mid-match. at which point i WAS po'd and my posts reflected it. it was my inability to find a proper secondary defense that cost me that match (which i still only lose 3-2)--not the tone of my posts.

I read the Leo/Kris match, and I didn't find anything any more insulting than any other match.

I'm just giving you a hard time where I think it's appropriate to do so.
Like to keep the fun-poking out of the serious debates, 's all 😄

*Facepalm* No where did I say he insulted us, and its not about a thick skin as I have been in far more "intense" debates then that and wasn't rattled. I just expected more from Leo and then the situation blew up.

see, now THAT's what i'm talking about. 😉

however, it does illustrate where we see things differently--i do NOT view a tourney debate any differently then i view any other debate. in threads or in tourneys, if i think something is preposterous, i'll poke fun. it's kinda what i do. 😬

as far as the whole 'expecting more' stuff i keep hearing--again, didn't know i had this rep to live up too, but, again, the strategy used against my team is what determines the tone of my responses. i guess i could reply by saying i expected a less . . . "convoluted" combination of offense. of course, i could be dead wrong, in which case YOU have the opportunity to disprove my points and the judges can decide for themselves. i've always trusted judges not to cloud tone with content and it's usually worked out for me.

See, this is the thing I was worried about. That the judges would be more convinced by this.
