Russians Planning to Avert Asteroid

Do you remember hearing about a 885-Foot asteroid that was found in 2004? If not then you better remember it now because it is believed that it'll collide with Earth, killing hundreds of thousands of human lives. Although this all just speculation since most scientists believe it's an impossibility but the theories of scientists don't seem to change the mind of the President of Russia.

A project is in the works that will probably be assisted by NASA, The European Space Agency, the Chinese Space Agency, and many more. The project is pretty much trying to find a way on how to avert the asteroid and some have the idea to make a spacecraft to collide with the asteroid and hope that it changes it's course away from Earth.

Studies say that the asteroid will make impact in 2029, when it is expected to come no closer than 18,300 miles from our planet's surface. But still, it's indicated that it's a small possibility that the big chunk of rock will hit us.

I think the Russians had the ability to launch a missile to any corner of the planet in the late 70's or early 80's.

well it could be in terms of speed. they know they can't test those types of weapons now, but they know they can launch a missle towards anywhere on earth, now they're probably working on speed/propulsion. meaning getting the missle to it's target faster than they've ever could done it. and how do you hide that? by calling it "operation: asteroid", perhaps.
