Joining the army

is it really worth it?

Do you enjoy killing other people? Are you incredibly desperate?

Need for a job is one of the most common reasons for people to join the army, excluding those that intend to head well up in the ranks.

no, it depends on ur reason and having to realize ur expectations may be completely different and disappointing.

i can probably answer some questions since i was a marine up to a year ago when i finished my enlistment

Free education, free medical, free room and board, sounds good to me. On the downside, you are throwing yourself in harm's way.

People like Wild Shadow are probably who you want to ask.

depends on M.O.S. or Career.... not all military jobs are combat active or oriented.. although i personally think it should be

joining the military in order to go to school or get a free education is actually the least efficient way to go and less likely to continue education while in active service.

if people want to go to college, it would be easier to seek financial assistance through government grants rather then through the military...

i took a few courses in the military during my over sea tours in iraq.. i was up pretty much every day nor did i get an actual understanding of my courses since it is generally a given to pass military personal regardless of understanding... you simply get officers or staff NCO's to sign off on ur classes after having ur hours in class met... imagine only getting 6 hours of sleep for a month...

you also only get credit depending on the college willing to accept the courses....on top of that only classes that can be taught by accredited personal can be taught while over sea. for example my class was tuaght by an officer/chaplin who was certified in teaching said course...

Its a good exciting career where you can learn a trade even. You meet crazy people, learn team work and make super friends.

But its dangerous and you can become marked for life by some experiences.

Horses for courses, its good for some bad for others.

My brother joined the military and is currently stationed at Fort Hood and on his way to Iraq in August.

So far, the military has done jack shit for him...he's becoming an alcoholic (literally called his wife today and told her that he was driving back to base while drunk) and called her a "****ing idiot" since she said that out loud to yell at him.

Yeah, he's making money and he has a career, but at what expense?

sounds more like a personal problem to be honest ken...

is it really worth it to become a terrorist for pay? is it really worth it to become a tool of the power centres to advance their own purposes while crushing others? is it really worth it to throw your humanity and morals away for promised gain thats comes with so many strings attached that ur better off without it? is it really worth it to sign your life, individual dignity and right to leave the organisation away and become a regimented slave?

if the answer to all the above is YES for you than its worth it to join the military.

to be honest i develop a real drinking problem in the marines due to isolation and to make matters worse it was compounded by me being an excellent marine if i do say so myself... 😄 i actually distance myself from sh$# birds and immature young marines that didnt follow our standard orders of no fraternization among lower ranking marines and woman in the same work section.... it pretty much made me a loner on top of being geographically isolated due to my posting.....

imagine every day getting up showering, shaving checking ur clothes making ur bed sweeping and cleaning ur room going to work and maintaining a good attitude and these qualities are what it is to be a good marine but everyone else hating you for it because you shine and make them look inadequate. you workout on ur own free time ur able to maintain high marks in military knowledge and physical test but you get passed over advancement or get screwed in job details b/c your superior Nco/Snco/officer dont like you and have friends whom they rather hook up rather then you who qualify and earned it....

imagine being graded by a person who is fat and incompetent who doesnt meet the requirements that he himself is judging you on?

imagine the same fat married f@$% is f$@%king ur fellow female marine who is 3 or 4 ranks below him.... and they have the nerve to judge ur attitude toward them b/c you know that they are garbage knowing they never spend a day in iraq b/c they make sure to get their names taken off a list.... imagine these same @$$holes telling people that ur to negative judgmental with poor attitude and spend their time trying to discredit you b/c u know about their sexual relations. imagine these same f@$^king ppl are also the ones who stay in the military and think themselves to be good marines... imagine it would drive you mad........... and their is sooooo much more

bash

i guess the question would be what kinda person are you? and if you think you can uphold military principals or are you going to be a turd... so is it worth it, what do you want to get out of it?

my only problem with serving (any country) is you dont get all your promised for willing to die for your country...in USA they promise everything...volunteer at your local V.A. Hosptial...listen to the vets...it is bullchit...no matter your reason for joining do your job ..then you DESERVE all benefits...mental or physical...includes drinking problems...and lance dont jump me this time..lol..hopefully you dont remember me..but anyways I can only hope for my government to wise up and take care our brothers and sisters who serve..they endure the worst...bless them all!

To all above is no. but someone can come up with questions like you did pointing out the good parts if it.

well i dont see a lot of good parts. even so, they wudnt detract from the bad parts and theyr bad enough to be injustifyable under mostly any practical situation
