Yeah.... Glad to have bit the bullet/dived in, despite the negative 1st reactions eh?
Ive done TPM, AOTC, ROTS, ANH the Star Wars Tech documentary, half of 'Star Warriors' and have watched the OT deleted scenes (Which I would hope the NOOOOO joins one day)
Speaking of which, is it me or was the ROTS Noooooo a little shorter?
Oh yes... very much shorter. The only positive thing I have to say about that.
I watched ALL the deleted scenes and ANH. THe OT deleted scenes were by far the most fun. The PT ones are a lot of animatics, not really great scenes and more stale acting by Christensen. One deleted scene to watch out for is the original animatic for the OB1-Grievous fight in ROTS. Spielberg directed the first animatic version of the chase and it's pretty intense. I liked it a lot more than what's in the film, Grievous is quite the serious mofo there (where he uses his spinning wheel to grind pieces of clone troopers and send the pieces flying towards OB1)... something lacking in the movies. Good, typical Spielbergian elements in the fight (like OB1 cutting off spikes from Grievous turning wheel).... all in all an interesting scene to see.
Oh I'm sure he did... But Lucas will include those on the next BD set.
Talking about family matters, I came across this bit of stand-up on Youtube:
Hmm... dunno. I didn't like the way he recut the OB1-VAder fight from ANH... just a lot of flashy close ups, adding the music... it's a bit cheap.
He did TPM allright, very much like The Phantom Edit ten years ago. Bottom line: take out Jar jar as much as possible and remove the oopses and that's a good tricks. Then TPM gets half decent.
