there's no realistic way for MM to win even one match against Surfer, unless Surfer is forced to play stupid.
MM is pretty useless against Surfer, just a tactically poor choice of opponent. MM might be a fairly powerful character but everything he has, Surfer has to a whole other level. and MM has no way to defend against Surfer's exotic attacks (Surfer could end the match quickly by taking MM to the astral plane and kicking his arse - phased or not-phased).
don't see this confrontation being any more difficult than Hulk vs Strong Guy.
MM has:
strength euqal to that of Superman
super speed equal to that of Superman
invulnerability
flight
telepathy (arguably the most powerful telepath on earth)
Molecular manipulation (which grants him insane regenration, shapeshifting, intangibility)
Martian vision
He is Supermans equal IMO. He isn't as popular that's why he is mostly in the background but his potential is great.
I see the SS taking a slight majority but MM can take a lot of damage, he can evade even more, his psi is also up there with the best and he has the strength/speed needed to put the surfer down for good.
He is simply underrated.

Nope. This is a bad fight for MM, considering he's usually been weaker against energy attacks compared to blunt force (Was fried by lightning in Cosmic Odyssey, taken out by Adams lightning, and even had some trouble with lasers in Ostranders series... And he claimed the robot that was firing the lasers was constantly changing frequencies or something in an effort to hit his phased form, and acted like this was a real possibility...)
