After 14 years, Independence Day is still a top pick on my list for alien/disaster flicks.

You got a badass Marine fighter pilot, his stripper girlfriend, a computer whiz and his old man, a hardass Marine general, a half-drunk pilot, and you got leading the country, one of the most badass presidents aside from Harrison Ford's James Marshall, President Thomas Whitmore.

Bill Pullman worked the role very well. His speech on the 4th of July is by far one of the best movie speeches in film history.

Then after delivering his speech, he dons a flightsuit, hops into a fighter jet, and leads the massive worldwide counterattack, showing the aliens that it's ill-advised to fvck with the people of Earth.

The Pres gets mad respect.

Mad respect for the J. We need more Presidents like him.
