Best Buy on a new laptop?

No it isn't.

I own a Alienware since 2007.. has XP installed on it, and still works fine, besides battery overheating problems which I will resolve once I buy a new battery pack.

Toshiba is the brand I wouldn't recommend.
You pay premium price for cheap build parts and crappy warranty.

If you're only going to use it for internet and research work, why not buy a cheap netbook?
I recommend Acer 1, MSI Wind series or Asus Eee series.

This is correct.

I spent $4000 on a beast, 4 or 5 years ago. It was quite awesome with liquid cooling, internal "tube" lights to make the liquid cooling more awesome, shit tons of ram, overclocked and liquied cooled video card, etc. I could purchase all of the same parts, install my own liquid cooling, etc. all for $2000. I paid $2000 extra for something I didn't need to. 😐

I will never buy an alienware again. I will always build from the ground up.
