It was restricted Phoenix with mental blocks. Teen Jean floored him and as Phoenix was handing him his ass in a future timeline.

You know an excellent case can be made for this argument. The Phoenix in that story line was the Phoenix after the M'krann Crystal incident when Jean/Phoenix imposed limits on herself. This was stated on panel (by Moira who was running scans on her). They were only broken much later when Mastermind drove Jean/Phoenix crazy and she became Dark Phoenix.

But you got to wonder if modern Marvel writers even know this.
