X is a low level telepath whose powers developped as movement anticipation. I think x keeping up with logan has more to do with his power to predict moves. Even if x is just that fast, beast is strong enough to tear him in half or kill him with a single bite to the neck, seen as X has human durability and no HF. Beast is also tough enough to soak some damage.

So if the feral rage beast slips into prevents mind reading because he operates without conscious action, like iron fist could do with his drunken style and logan by going berserk, then beast would most likely win this. Otherwise X will take him down, specially if he's using guns.
