How many and how well attached to wall are the lights? We could drop one in and lower another with the rope to get an idea of what we're going to be descending into.

About a dozen in total- not hard to detach.

Rand will use Lifting to lower one of the torches down slowly into the pit, to see if it can illuminate some of what lies below and to see if the flame can endure the thin (or lacking) air of Black.

It goes down a fair way before confirming your second worry- as its tiny glow fades to nothing. No oxygen.

How far is a fair way?

We definitely need to tie the ropes together...

Hard to tell! At least a hundred feet.

So light won't help. We have those flares.

Tie the ropes together and send Galder down first. Or Chunn.

I wouldn't be against that...

Ok! Galder, you are heading down. You are starting to feel a bit light-headed; the air is getting damn thin now.

Still, your observation holds out. There are handholds on the descent- it is climbable; all the more so with the ropes.

Right then goggles on. I guess I am heading off towards that ravine then.

Okay, we are going down then, not to waste time!

Rah takes some deep breaths to saturate his lungs with whatever air there is in the chamber in readiment of the descent.

Galder will call up.

"There are handholds here! We can climb down easy!" Galder shouts.

With a final grunt of held breath, Rah starts down the rungs.

Ush, I'm going to be away from wednesday till early september so basically Rah will follow the majority decisions fighting where necessary.

Dak will go ahead and head down as well.

Ok, now, going down the well- especially with your civilians in tow- would have had difficulties, but preserving your ropes effectively removes them. Slowly, almost frustratingly so, you eventually all make it down into black and its, well, blackness.

We have several immediate problems. First, there is almost no light. Second, there is pretty much no air. Third, several of you are feeling uncomfortable, danger-wise.

-

"How much do you know about this man 'Kuylen'?" asks the Seer of you, Edna, yelling over the wind.

Would the flares work down here?

For a bit each.

I believe we have three... we should light one up if the danger rises.

Oh boy, danger!

...why on earth would there be handholds on the walls of a pit leading from Blue to Black, anyway? Am I the only one that finds that suspicious?
