There's a pretty big difference between 70's Avengers Wonder Man and his solo series.

1. KO's Namor.
2. Toe to Toe with Thor.
3. Toe to toe with Count Nefaria

Solo Series

1. Slugfest with the Hulk
2. H2H with Abomination
3. Not in series but the same time period he forces Thor to use his most powerful lightning attack as a last resort.

Its only the 2000's Simon that is ridiculously underpowered.

still BB would win...simon was a powerhouse though

3. Growing powers
4. Shapeshifting
5. Could explode and reform his body
6. Dynamic strength
7. Learned and regularly used martial arts

Even in terms of relative combat showings, look at his fights against Goliath. In Avengers, Goliath one or two-shotted him on more than one occasion. In his solo series, he beat Goliath twice.

The difference is enormous.

wow he was really a beast in his solo series

There was an issue where he took out like a dozen Infinity War dopplegangers with one or two hits apiece and accidentally KO'd the real Drax with one shot.

really sad how Marvel elt the character to decline...I was a big fan of his ionic form days back on vol 3 of Avengers

I think Simon's versatility allows him to negate the energy attacks from Black Bolt.

WW defintly puts up a heck of a fight but BB takes it.
