Who is the weakest character that could survive a Guardian of the Universe self-destructing at point-blank range from their face?

I literally can't think of a single reason the Guardian would want him alive. He sacrificed himself with the intent to kill Prime and end his threat once and for all.

A little of both. The Guardian-detonation was meant to mainly BFR Prime from the universe (via atomic removal) so he couldn't cause any further damage. However, the Guardians also knew the attack would either kill Prime OR warp him into the multiverse:

Still seems ridiculous. You'd think the Guardian would have to put some effort into ensuring Prime would be descrambled in exactly the same condition as he was in prior to his atomization. In effect it was less a blast and more a teleporter.

Because the only reason Prime survived it was some (in all honesty) super-impossible cosmic fluke. Being atomized and deposited in a another universe isn't "tanking". It really depends on how much respect you have for Cytorrak's enchantment. And some versions (like Pre-WWH Redemption Juggs) stand absolutely no chance.
