STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- The White Tower of Halloy

Straight ahead it is! It is Strength + Intrusion to push your way through the crowd and get lost in it, losing the guards.

S'long as the girl is with me, I'll go right ahead.

Denzral rolls three successes as he plunges into the crowd, pulling the girl with him. The crowd begins to break up a bit when the soldiers of the White Tower start firing their guns into the air and telling everyone to get out of their way... but Denzral has already high-tailed it out of there and is hidden in his alleyway. A few soldiers run past the alley you chose- a dank dead-ended refuse-filled one- but they don't see you. You are safe, for now.

"You saved me!" the girl says in a hushed voice.

"Of course," he whispered, "well, you haven't done anything wrong right?" Denzral paused notably after that, as if waiting for an answer. "So I couldn't just stand by while you were being threatened. Denz, by the way." He greeted and looked at the walls around them. Any doorways, can I loosely sense if there are are beings behind any of the walls. Behind me. The end of the alley for instance?

"Enah," she says. She is moderately good looking, but quite obvious a peasant. "I did nothing wrong! The soldiers just said I had to come with them. I felt... I don't know, like it was wrong."

She gets quiet after that.

The alleyway is boxed in by white apartment complexes (though the white-washed walls are dirty here) and you sense many lifeforms in the buildings. Maybe more than you think you should.

Slicing through the wall probably isn't a good idea... I'll take out my comlink. "Soapy, are you okay?" I have my Jedi clothing with me? Can I give us both a decent enough disguise from a distance. I hope more than I think I should wasn't throw away comment. Any kind of access hatch for an underground? Or a maintenance door for the garbage or something.

Soapy does not respond.

Yes, your have all your things in your travelpack.

No, you don't see any sewer access in the alley. More soldiers run by.

"He's probably busy, I hope." Screw it. I'll turn around, and using the refuse crate thing as cover, slice an entrance in the wall... but first I check to see if I can move the bin so I can use it to conceal the entrance after I go through.

Sure! Could even wheel it into position with the Force after you go in.

Enah gives a gasp as you ignite your lightsaber and start carving a hole in the wall of the apartment building, as do the occupants within. You slice your way in and bring Enah inside before covering your hole with a garbage bin.

You are now in a bedroom... or at least, it would be a bedroom, if it were not occupied by ten people! It is stuffed in here.

"What the-" Denzral grimaces, and does his best to make it as polite a smile as he can. "Bit crowded in here isn't it, dear?" I'll deactivate my sabre.

"You just ruined my wall!" someone shouts, though everyone is clamoring around you and asking if you are a Jedi. Enah stays beside you.

There are more people in the hallway beyond the room, and in the rooms around this one. You can sense them all, and smell them. It stinks in here! Too many people crowded into tiny spaces.

"Quiet." He smiles, "yes, I am a Jedi. Why is everyone living like this..."

Enah doesn't know, so it is one of the dwellers, a Rodian woman, that tells you.

"There is no room in this city for more!" she says. "But more come! The White Tower cannot handle the woes of all."

"I wonder why they don't just expand the city."

"The 'methods' helped save us from overpopulation and have reduced the crime rate," the bartender says. "Halloy has never been better."

Denzral thought back to what the bartender said. Obviously those methods aren't as solid as he thinks. Overpopulation exists in a big way. "And you cannot afford to leave or you are not allowed to leave. Have you noticed anything odd going on, people disappearing, guards harassing people for no apparent reason? Me an Enah, here were being chased by some white armoured Tower thugs. Sorry about your wall, but I didn't want to stay in the alley."

This isn't really the crowd you would want for answering serious questions. Most are still trying to get over the fact that they're in the presence of a Jedi, and more are coming in.

The Rodian woman can inform you about the guards chasing you, though.

"The guards chase down those who aren't welcome. Either you've done something bad, or you're not yet registered. Which are you?"

"The latter," Enah is quick to respond. "I haven't done anything!"

"Then I guess I have now done something wrong by interfering."

"If you resist registration, you have done wrong by the Tower," the Rodian woman says. "They'll hunt you until they get you. It is fortunate for you that the soldiers only use non-lethal weapons against the unwelcome."

"I did wonder about that." He bows and makes to move into the hallway. "Can you offer us any kind of help? Wait-" Denzral lshook his head. "What exactly happens during registration?"

The Rodian woman holds up her hand and shows you the back of it. There is an unpleasant scar there from an old cut.

"They establish your information for the databanks, then implant you with this chip," she says. "The troopers have scanners in their helmets that check for its presence. If you don't have one, they know."

"I wonder what else those chips do?" Denzral murdered. "Enah, follow me." I'll walk into the hallway, and head along it. Are there ANY empty rooms, so Denz can change into his Jedi clothing.
