Hormonal differences, basically the same reason a given straight person might have a high voice.
No, a lot of gay guys condition themselves to have it. Its a self reinforcing thing. Just like if you move to Boston and pick up a bit of a boston accent, moving in with a bunch of gays that squal like Princess Peach has its effects too. Mimicry.
Its one of the resons I am much more comfortable around straight people, want to punch queens in the face, and think Riddick sounds sexy.
