idk Saint, personally I read it as meaning that he lost the ring BECAUSE of the blast... like it got blasted off of him or something. I'm not saying that your interpretation is wrong, but that's how I read it. But it's been years since I saw the page before, so it's very possible there's some context I'm forgetting that clarifies things a bit to support your stance.

He then further amped his powers with a Mother Box, and was still barely able to give DD pause.
That is a huge testament to how f*cking powerful Doomsday was during that arc. FAR more powerful than I'd previously thought, tbh. [/B]
