So then we agree.

Didn't think we were arguing Dooms tech though, but whether his country is > Lex's planet.

Say what you will about Doom, but he hasen't benefited his country in the slightest.

was this planet the result of luthors challenge to fight a depowerd superman?

Yes, Luthor wanted the fight there because it's under a red sun.

That's not true at all, but I don't feel like proving it now.

For anyone who has read Books of Doom, they know you are wrong.

Yes he has. There is absolutly no crime in his country. It's not like people are treated like slaves. They acctually love doom and not fear him.
Dooms tech>Luthors tech
Dooms country>luthors planet

Oh?

So like Saddams people loved him?

Hostages often love their captors too. It's called Stockholm syndrome.

Their hostages but they are happy hostages.
And really...doom looking it up on wikipedia...the writers just put that in for comical effect.

stockholm syndrom is bullshit.

Latverians are usually not protrayed as an underclass that starves and is exploited while the monarch prospers.

Most stories show latveria as a nation of equitative material prosperity unlike anythig in the real world, zero unemployment, free universal education and health care, almost no crime, and a very high level of contentment, but with very limited civil liberties, brutal repression of dissidence, and no say whatsoever in government decisions. This is the prosperity and 'happiness' (as he and his followers see it) that doom seeks to spread throughout the world, provided everyone gives up autonomy and accepts his will above their own. Even though he is a dictator, his people would most likely vote for him repeatedly if he ran for office.

I'll take it that you've never even read a comic featuring PC Luthor or his planet.

Fine. What part of thw is wrong?

Besides Doom of course. My impression though was that before Doom seized power it was a third world nation in the vein of Yugoslavia, only much smaller.

Yuguslavia was actually very prosper until the civil war. Doom turned the country into a global power in 20 years of seizing power.

Pretty much all of it. PC Luthor had insane tech feats and armor that could allow him to stand up to PC Kryptonians.

And Latveria is certainly not > to Lexor.

Yugoslavia was stable until the Civil War but it certainly was never prosperous by any definition of the word.

The only reason Marshall Tito was able to stay neutral in the Soviet-Sino split was the fact that Yugoslavia had little real strategic importance and was rather poor.

Are all people in lex's planet happy?Do they all have homes, health care and education? Is there little to no crime?

It wasn't poor. Its quality of life was pretty much the highest of the communist bloc, because it did not follow moscow's political and economic directions and their economy was based on the production of consumer goods instead of megaindustrial-military development.

The reason they managed to stay free of stalin's influence is that yugoslavia was the only eastern bloc country to liberate itself from the III reich without the red army. The regimes quickly distanced from each other after WWII, before the ruptyre between russia and china. The degree of personal freedoms within the country was also much much higher than in the soviet union.

stow it with IRL....

they are very well benifited from lex's intervention. i dont think crime and healthcare are mentioned, so one can only speculate.
