Didn't think we were arguing Dooms tech though, but whether his country is > Lex's planet.Say what you will about Doom, but he hasen't benefited his country in the slightest.
For anyone who has read Books of Doom, they know you are wrong.

stockholm syndrom is bullshit.
Latverians are usually not protrayed as an underclass that starves and is exploited while the monarch prospers.
Most stories show latveria as a nation of equitative material prosperity unlike anythig in the real world, zero unemployment, free universal education and health care, almost no crime, and a very high level of contentment, but with very limited civil liberties, brutal repression of dissidence, and no say whatsoever in government decisions. This is the prosperity and 'happiness' (as he and his followers see it) that doom seeks to spread throughout the world, provided everyone gives up autonomy and accepts his will above their own. Even though he is a dictator, his people would most likely vote for him repeatedly if he ran for office.

Besides Doom of course. My impression though was that before Doom seized power it was a third world nation in the vein of Yugoslavia, only much smaller.
Yuguslavia was actually very prosper until the civil war. Doom turned the country into a global power in 20 years of seizing power.

The only reason Marshall Tito was able to stay neutral in the Soviet-Sino split was the fact that Yugoslavia had little real strategic importance and was rather poor.

Yugoslavia was stable until the Civil War but it certainly was never prosperous by any definition of the word.
The only reason Marshall Tito was able to stay neutral in the Soviet-Sino split was the fact that Yugoslavia had little real strategic importance and was rather poor.
It wasn't poor. Its quality of life was pretty much the highest of the communist bloc, because it did not follow moscow's political and economic directions and their economy was based on the production of consumer goods instead of megaindustrial-military development.
The reason they managed to stay free of stalin's influence is that yugoslavia was the only eastern bloc country to liberate itself from the III reich without the red army. The regimes quickly distanced from each other after WWII, before the ruptyre between russia and china. The degree of personal freedoms within the country was also much much higher than in the soviet union.
