The 1000 took a grenade to the chest, and if it weren't for the smelting pit, it would have regenned.

Look at the composition of the chest and compare it to the model in the first 2 films. It's thicker and heavily armored.

I forget, did it even dent the chest plate? I know it damaged one of the cells inside 850's chest, but was the armor itself harmed?
