I'm actually staying
to see what else he has to say about what I said last

"It's my job to serve the Republic," sayts Merovan, his hand still outstretched.

"You want me to leave too?"

"Unless you think there is any other way I can help you," he says.

"And do you have another idea how this could be possible?"

*where is nebb?*

"Wesa going hooooome...or the sewers, more accurately. Damn."
Mah prepares to go down the sewers with Marcus.

"None at all," says Merovan, smiling. Nebb is still with you, silently.

I was going to say, Mah, you must have had a miserable childhood...

"Then I have no more use here.
Thank you *shakes hand, should make him happy*
I leave in peace."

"Everything alright Nebb?"

Yerssot, when he shook your hand he passed the piece of paper he was writing on into your palm.

"I fail to see what is being achieved by all this," says Nebb.

"I sensed you weren't happy at all Nebb, was that way?"
*hides piece of paper in utility belt*

"Well, I am but a servant. I am sure you know best, within certain proscrobed guidelines," says Nebb.

"Everyone is a servant to the bigger universe, Nebb.
Now, let us find the others quickly."

*hope you guys got enough headstart*

Ah, are Fire and Mah trying to slip away?

Back at Ascar's apartment, Kuylen has easily defeated the two Jedi, but as he makes his death blow on Gundark he checks it half way, turns and reflects a laser bolt into its firer, a battle droid. Many battle droids are pouring into the room, with Milano visible behind them.

"MILANO!" yells Kuylen. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Just business, Kuylen," says Milano. "Xeth is for us to deal with. Permanently. Kill them," he orders.

Kuylen takes a step forward but Ascar lays a hand on his shoulder.

"There's no time," he says. "If you would be good enough to escort me out of here, then we can talk about that deal you wanted, yes?" Kuylen grunts, then nods.

As for you two Jedi, droids are atacking you- many droids, and Gundark is still sabreless!

that *WAS* the idea yes

"I need to meditate to calm my sense ...
I won't be long, see you with master Marcus and fellow knight mah if you go..."
*sits down with back to nebb, carefully takes paper in hand again, waits for nebb to leave*

On the balance of things, Nebb will go check out Marcus and Mah, thoigh he would prefer you to stay together or he'll have to cause trouble again.

The note- well folded- reads as follows:

"Nebb is your main problem. It is the Lamellans who are BEHIND the smuggling and so Nebb does not want you to discovert this. Of course, I can't prove that, not without an investigation, and we cannot investigate this place witjhout the Lamellans being involved as it is thier space- little wonder we are not getting far. You will find that it is Nebb who set up nearly all these laws limiting access- and he did it very legally as well, in the name of aiding the investigation. The important Lamellans, like Nebb, have found they can become very rich and powerful by both being behind the smuggling AND being on the political commission to stop it, so Nebb wants this investigation to go on forever without result, He will not care about some murderer; he will just wait for your needs to move on away from here.

Don't say a thing to Nebb- he will do you for slander. And try not to mess things up- we WILL nail the Lamellans eventually."

You remember, yerss, that Trorn, who sent you here, said he had received a message from the Trade Federation asking why Mah and Marcus had not shut down the Lamellans. Not that you like the Trade Federation, but you can see why they would loathe a people who have made smuggling part of the Republican political process. No wonder these smugglers are powerful; the administration here backs them.

Sadly there is little to be done about it- it is simply the corrupt background in which you guys have to do your jobs.

Kellan used the momentary distraction to extricate herself from her grave, calling her lightsabre to her hand as she rolled away from Kuylen's reach towards Xeth. She scrambled to her feet only by sheer will of the Force as the room filled with laser fire.

this will complicate things ... have to think about what doing now ...

"Take the small one on the right, corporal"

"Roger Roger"

The droids (about thirty) divide their firepower between the two of you.

Ascar extends a hand forwards, and it is like the Red Sea parting. About ten droids are scattered and thrown to the ground, creating a gap and Kuylen and Ascar run through. Some try and shoot at them as they go which has the same effect as shooting themselves in the head as Kuylen lazily back-deflects the bolts into them (as Windu does in AOTC).

They are headed to a small lift at the side of the room... oh wait, they are already there... The knocked-down droids are getting up

Okidokey, yerssot. I am sure you will be glad to get away from this place once Persis is dealt with...

Meanwhile, the sewers. Mah and Marcus, you have found a way down- and rather clean it is as well.

"We should wait for yerssot," says Nebb.

any chance I can give a message to marcus and mah without nebb hearing it?
