At some point before these events, back on Coruscant...
If Jedi smoke or drank, Trorn would be on his tenth packet and twentieth bottle by now. As it is, he is sitting on his chair, muttering calming medative words to himself, surroudned by an increasing amount of paperwork in the form of compaints. When you come in, Vincent, he nearly falls off his chair.
"Ah, Vincent, Vincent, yes, good work witht those pirates..." he says. You have just helped do some defence liasion work in the eastern Galactic quadrant against the growing power of the pirate clans there, Vincent. It was a six-month assignment, hard work, and you were expecting some time off beofre anything else happened, but it seems not to be. Trorn, liasion to the Jedi Council, has called you in to give you new orders almost at once.
"We have a problem," he says. "Master Gundark is currently on assignment on request of the Supreme Chancellor himself. She was following up a previous investigation looking for a man named Kuylen." Trorn sighs. "You may have heard of Kuylen, he was once a Knight of some repute, we thought he was dead, but it was all a fake, seems he turneed to the Dark Side... he's pulled together this hotch-potch of half-baked force adepts from outside the Republic and half-trained them. Trouble is, Kuylen was one of the best swordsmen we have nad he has trained them rather well in that respect. He's been up to all sorts of no good, pillaging some old Sith Sites in an attempt to learn their power, silly stuff if you ask me. I am sure Master Gundark will tell you the whole story when you see her.
"It's all gone belly up, you see. Gundark's team followed Kuylen to Malastare after some reliable intelligence was received by the Chancellor's department, hence him requesting the mission. But Gundark's people turned Malastare into a small war zone, and Kuylen wasn't even there- already moved on. They messed aroun with his men but they didn't catch any of them and hundreds died an an almighty firefight. It is an absolute mess, and now Gundark's team seems spread across half the Galaxy. Some of them have gone completely out of our detection range. Some of them are still near Malastare but have been caught acting illegally and now I have an entire Senatorial committee asking for the investigation to be stopped. And Master Gundark herself, despite being warned that there was a bounty on her head, AND having at her side a known enemy of the Hutts, has gone to Nar Shadda, of all places. And now she has disappeared.
"We don't know where Kuylen and his team or, nor what they are meant to be up to. The Council is NOT keen to push too hard to find Kuylen, whilst he was on Malastare, we had little choice but to act, but other than that it seems triyng to find him has only ever done more harm than good, as this seems to be proving. I am sure Master Gundark has her reasons but she must be found, and SOMEONE must tell her that her fragmented mission has turned into a catastrophe! If she cannot give a cast iron guarantee of catchiung Kuylen without difficulty, then she simply must give up!
"You are the only Knight we have spare, Vincent,. You must go to Nar Shadda and make contact with Gundark. Do you have any questions?"
Well, the droids ARE focussing on you, but they still are not coming down!
They will only come down if they HAVE to...
-
"Unfortunately," says Trorn, "the Hutt authorities are not very co-operative in this matter. We have a bay number for her ship and that is about it. We know who they were trying to chase down there as well, a man named Kir Ascar whom they believe Kuylen is trying to contact..." Trorn looks a bit strained at having to deal with all this. He sighs.
"Ascar is a businessman from Malastare who owned a large collection of various Jedi and, it seems, Sith artifacts, and Gundark believed Kuylen was on Malastare for these artifacts. But it turns out that Ascar is also an ex-Jedi, a Padawan who left the order 50 years ago, named Mal Sannan. Sannan, or Ascar, is VERY powerful with the Force, apparently, and though we have no idea who finished his training he does not appear to be a Dark Sider. Don't ask me to explain any more, because I don't understand myself. But whilst Ascar might not have been much of a problem, his two pupils were, and we already have several Knights trying to sort out the problem they caused! We have an arrest warrant out for Ascar and Gundark believes he is on Nar Shadda and that Kuylen will try and find him there.
"So that is all we know- where she landed, and what she is looking for. But I reckon most of the planet will have some idea where she is- the bounty on her head is enormous and on Nar Shadda that is a powerful motivator.
"When you FIND Gundark, tell her the problems with her mission... but until the Council makes any offiical decision on it, you can consider yourself under her command from that point on. I don't know, if there IS a good chance of sorting out the Kuylen problem once and for all, you may as well help her with it. But we are hoping she will show SOME restraint.
"We are in the dark as to quite what is going on here, Vincent. I know this is not yuor usual sort of mission. Be careful on Nar Shadda. It takes a lot of getting used to there, We would send someone more experienced in such matters, but as I say, you are the only person we have free. Besides, we have great confidence in you."
Thank you master. I will be leaving now.
*Vincent head over to the main hangar and retrieves his star fighter, then he proceeeds to Nar Shadda*
G7 (the droid), try to locat a signal from Master Gundarks ship perhaps we can locate ti that way. The quicker we find her the better.
