"No deal ?" Kellan echoed. "So you didn't allow Kuylen access to the Astrolabe at all ?"

"Not at all," says Ascar. "Of course, I cannot be responsible for what happens to it now Persis has it but I assume your agents will take care of that."

(Beat him up Gundy!! 😛 )

"Do you know where the Astrolabe is now ?"

"Persis probably took it to Tartarus, other than that I have no idea. Kuylen wanted to get the location of the Mausoleum directly from myself, of course."

Kellan's mind was racing. "Then Kuylen will not be able to locate the Masoleum," she said, almost to herself. "You must have sensed that he is strong with the Dark side."

"Of course I did," said Ascar, "though I am rarely in the business of making moral judgments. However, whilst he will not get its location from me, I do not know what may happen with Persis, and Kuylen has already done the impossible once with Avalar... one thing I also sensed is that I suspect it is Kuylen's destiny to find the Mausoleum. The Force is aiding him."

Kellan felt an urgent need to return to Coruscant and report this information to the Jedi Council. In fact, she had been anxious to return home for some time, as disastrous as this mission had been. But she had to see it through to its conclusion, despite the warnings Grevor had given her on Malastare.

"And what is your destiny, Ascar ?"

"To continue through the Endless Circle, Master Gundark, that is all that anyone's destiny truly is."

"Do you know where Kuylen is now ? Where he is headed ?"

"No, unless his people have the information he needs, in which case he will be off to the Mausoleum, of course."

"Where is the Masoleum ?"

"Now..." says Ascar. "That is a very DANGEROUS question. People should be careful about asking things like that."

"There's only the two of us here, Ascar," Kellan pointed out, unwavered by the tone of the man's voice. "The ultimate objective of my mission has not been achieved. I will continue to persue Kuylen if I am so ordered to by the authorities involved." She straighted, moving from the wall and taking a couple of steps toward Ascar, feeling the soreness of every muscle in her body. "Enlighten me. Where is the masoleum ?"

"Trust me, Master Gundark, that is information that you will be happier in your life not knowing. Can you even give me a good reason to tell you?"

"You said earlier that Kuylen's past wasn't any of your business. Why would you care now what happens to his future ?"

"It's not Kuylen safety that I was concerned for," says Ascar. "Some things are better left buried. And the only reason I am going to tell you at all is that I suspect Kuylen is already on his way there, and it is well he be opposed when he does so.

"That is to say, I am going to tell you on one condition. And do not worry, I am not asking for my freedom."

Kellan found she was holding her breath and exhaled, slowly. "What do you want, Ascar ?"

"That you simply listen to what I say. You may not want to go when I tell you."

Any knowledge she could obtain would be helpful, Kellan knew, so she nodded to Ascar. "I will listen."
