Anyway, to comment on designs again, I think the Espada have the more attractive characters.

Not even including Harribel, I thought Pantera Grimmjow was yummy.

Even if you do think his personality was better, I don't see how you can say he had more character development, when in terms of the actual amount of exploration into personality obviously Itachi and Pein are ahead there (and I didn't like either of their personalities, but they clearly had a lot more effort put into showing why they acted how they did).

Orochimaru left the Akatsuki because he was too good of a villain for them.

And bad development is bad. Nagato abandoning his plans to save the world because Naruto tells him to? And conveniently having the power to revive everyone he killed?

Just plain bad storytelling.
