Is anyone interested in Star Wars the Old Republic?

Spoiler:
I actually posted a picture of it...

😐

I have a feeling it'll be something like Dragon Age Origins or Oblivion.

The player (or group of players) fight the (Big Boss) Sith Emperor and his cronies and then at the end in a cutscene Revan emerges and pulls a Martin Septim or Grey Warden sacrifice to kill him, destroying both of them.

You do a 40 man raid mission to distract SauronThe Sith Emperor while Revan drop kicks his ass. You arrive, Revan's calmly sitting and sipping a martini.

Because it's at that moment that you find out that Revan pulled an Onimi: he is, and always was, the Sith Emperor. His entire career as a Jedi--all a clever ruse.

It's a tad bit unsuspenseful that most of us now know the ending to Revan before the novelization is released.

I'm so nice...

Epic music BTW! Honestly, my favorite song from the movies.

Spoiler:
Just thought i'd do a quick write up of the White Nova flashpoints. This is an Imperial Space station with 2 level 30ish instances springing from it.

The Boarding Party - You are sent by Darth Malgus to take over a Republic ship on route to the Foundry space station so that you can sneak aboard the station during an Imperial attack.

The Foundry - A republic station using infinite empire technology ran by a 300 year old crazy jedi master (can you see where this is going yet?)

The quest to go there starts off with a Moff connecting you to Darth Malgus via holonet.

The first instance, The Boarding Party, take place aboard the republic ship captained by a smarmy female torgruta captain. The instance itself is ok, though kind of dull. Pretty much a tank and spank the entire time. You don't really even need a full time healer for it. I have actually 2-manned it while we used our companions. Approx time 1 to 1 1/2 hrs (i'm sure this could be done MUCH faster by an actual group rather than a pug, i'd est 35-45min if a group were on vent together and knew where to go)

After finishing the Boarding Party, you report back to Darth Malgus, who tells you to take over the foundry and eliminate the crazy jedi master aboard that is running it. This is kind of ominous compared to any quest i've gotten in the game so far up to level 37 so i thought this might be fun. So we ran this instance.

The Foundry starts out extremely similar to the boarding party, except you face pretty much all jedi masters, champions, defenders and droids... LOTS of droids. Not only that, there are Infinite Empire droids (have you gotten the connection here yet) so there are stations that will produce these droids on the spot so you have a lot more to contend with.

You go and go, finally facing off against a heck of a giant droid boss. Again, simple t&s fight. After defeating him, you get a message over the stations speakers with a VERY familiar voice. After a few insults including the word "meatbag" you keep going up against more and more droids... (if you haven't gotten the references yet, shame on you, go play KOTOR before reading anymore).

Make sure while you are oustide to LOOK UP! there is some amazing art at work here, as the station is constantly rotating, so you can see some of the imperial/republic space battle above and the astroid belt around you. It's really amazing imagery! I'll try to edit out some of the screen caps i have and post them here

At one point you go outside of the station (it's built into a large asteroid) and find it has shields that keep in an atmosphere for you. The outside of the station is swarming with large bugs. After completing the objective to blow up some stuff outside, you face a huge bug boss. This was somewhat difficult because we had a ton of bug adds on us when the boss comes out of the ground. The healer here was very taxed.

Finally you get to the third boss of the instance. After some verbal sparring, he decides to kill you personally. Yes folks, the second boss of the instance is indeed the one and only HK-47 who has designed most of the extermination droids you have been fighting up to this point. This was the first real boss fight i think i've had in the game so far. While it was a t&s fight for the most part, many more touches were added, including lots of droid adds, carbon freezing, and some random aggro dumps. This was really the first time I felt like i was in a boss fight and it felt GOOD!

After kililng HK-47 (yea, sad i know, but just wait) you move on to clicking some panels and facing more jedi but mainly droids the rest of the way. Finally you reach the bridge!

Here is an epic cutscene. You see the crazy 300 year old jedi master for the first time. My first thought was, why do i know that outfit??? My second thought was, why do those scars on his face look like the outline of a mask??? Well, you quickly find out the answer to both questions. the crazy old jedi master, is infact Darth Revan!

You find out (if your party use the appropriate dialogue options) that he was taken prisoner by the emporer 300 years ago while exploring (this was before the Republic knew about the current empire) and that the Emporer had been using Revan's force energy for his on purposes. Once getting out, Revan started the Foundry (which you guessed it, was one of the Star Forges) to help the republic out as he stayed a jedi after KOTOR. He also complains that you killed his HK, says he can rebuild him, but it's just not the same.

The fight itself... pretty tough. Revan will through a force storm on top of himself, does an instant stack of dots that has to be purged immediately or you will have a dead tank. He has lots of damaging saber attacks and a knockback. All in all, it's a very fun fight!

After you defeat him you leave and when back on the station talk to Darth Malgus again, and can complain to him (with the right choice) that he should have told you what you were up against.

Overall, this instance (The Foundry) had a very EPIC feel too it. When i first heard HK-47 talking, i was entranced from there out! The backstory from Revan was great and the imagery overall was amazing. I kind of felt cheated that this was a level 30 instance. Revan explained that he had been weakened from the Emperor for so long, but still felt that this should have been a level 50 instance or raid. It could still well be moved there , but i feel that they added it at the level 30ish level to throw fans of kotor a bone and get some NEEDED backstory stuff out of the way so they could concentrate on a new story line moving forward without the constant demand of wanting to know what happened to Revan.

Overall, I was impressed thoroughly with this instance.

WTF is this BS!

Dude, I think I love you?

Lol, but thanks a lot man for putting this out for us!!! Much appreciated 🙂

Just one question:

Spoiler:
So I'm confused. Basically the Sith side has you kill Revan permanently? And this is same Revan the Jedi/Republic side releases? That seems to be an anticlimatic end...

Yeah... It's bull shit really. Very disappointed.

Epic.

Spoiler:
WTF...if they are going to make a character a frickin legend they really need to give him a legendary ending.

I hope a lot of the game testers complain about this and they change it.

That is really disappointing to hear.

Spoiler:
He'll be cloned and come back to fight Palpatine's clone for supremacy, only to be beaten by Marka Ragnos and Darth Bandon.
Spoiler:
Unless there is something that since Revan is bound through the Force to the Sith Emperor, he cannot "die" until the Sith Emperor is killed. 😱 In which case he returns 😈
Spoiler:
This would be epic. Except that it would necessitate some kind of uber battle which results in eithers' death. Like Tyr versus Garmr.
Spoiler:
Ya, like I mentioned above, pulling a Martin Septim against Mehrunes Dagon or the Grey Warden sacrifice against the Archdemon. I see the destruction of both of them.

It's far too late in the testing changes to actually do anything tot he storyline. Anyways both flashpoints happen canonically probably. First Republic then Sith.

And yes LOL to how Revan was treated.

Unless his head is chopped off, it's possible, though very unlikely, that the above speculations could be true LOL.

I can't fathom what Bioware was thinking in doing that to the beloved protagonist of the game that more or less allowed them to make this MMORPG.

Well at the beginning of development all the interviews said they would play Sith. They are also the most polished classes and the classes so far kicking ass in PvP since they overpowered them.

So when they had the opportunity to kill a cool dark sider turned light to make the game heroic they gladly took it. I am very disappoint too.

Just imagine the Wookiepedia summary of Revan now with this added at the end.

The same information's already floating around TOR communities, too. We'll see how this goes shortly.
