like they did Magus and witches and herbal healers? these were the wise ppl...

then you got the mathematicians, astronomers and ppl with different cultures art mathematics that were not understood..

most ppl didnt claim to be divine but it didnt stop the church from killing the or testing their innocence via drowning.

That's why you convince the pope, man, that you were divinely sent from the future.

They weren't completely unreasonable. As long as you creditd the Pope and God for anything scientific that you did, you wouldn't get into too much trouble.

1400's Pope would have you burned, you'd be a threat to religious control.

What was that?

The Popes were reasonable as long as you proved what they wanted you to prove.

Except that Galileo got in trouble for going out of his way to mock the church, not for publishing his ideas.

😆 😆 that comment made my day!

As for religion, that would get well wiped out. Don´t want those medievel fairy story believers spoiling progress.

It would be impossible. The Church had more power than any lord or king.

it depends on location... but, i would still like to hear how some of us would try..

damn the church.. even in the past they were a problem

No it would be possible. The problem would that accomplishing such an act in a reasonable time frame would be guaranteed to found a religion.

oops, 1400s are later than i thought

Not if you say you're doing it for his benefit and claim it's only to serve the Lord.

"Discover" the gravitational constant? Say you did it under the guidance and watchful eye of the Pope and with prayers to the Lord. 🙂

On top of that, Galileo is the EXACT person I had in mind for ways to NOT go about doing things. 🙂

so you would be a subservient King to the church and kiss their @$$ knowing they are wrong and spreading ignorance?

why would you give credit to god and more specifically to the church?

What happens when you start "discovering" principles that directly conflict with the dogma?

"And God has 'revealed' to me that the Earth is not in fact the center of the universe."

Galileo went about it the wrong way obviously, but what about Copernicus? People took that kind of shit seriously back then. (they still do)

Copernicus was a Believer and so was Gregor Mendel. They didn't see how their discoveries conflicted with belief, because they didn't. Only the church heads had a problem, because they thought it threatened their power.

It might blow up in your face as often as actually firing, but at least it would make lots of noise and maybe, just maybe hit something.

pff... i just tell my blacksmith what to make with detailed drawing of a rifle and its mechanics.
