Hm? They built the DNA from scratch which is a very impressive feat.

Obviously "creating life" is poetic, you don't get much interest in something so esoteric as building DNA from the ground up and having it work properly unless you come up with good phrasing. I don't believe they've actually claimed to have "created life", though they do point out that they are the first humans to create a new species without the use of selective breeding.

Indeed. The proper phrasing would be life with synthetic DNA or a synthetic life-form. In any event, in the special I was watching: the animation of how the synthetic DNA takes over the subject cell reminded me of John Carpenter's "Thing" when Blair was studying how the alien took over the dog cells. Aggressive little buggers.

You really need to quote the person you're responding to, especially if that person hasn't said anything for three pages. You also shouldn't refer to "some of you guys" when you're only responding to one person.
