If Guy Fawkes had been some kind of freedom fighter against the monarchy trying to liberate the "man" I could understand why people would romanticize him.
But he wasn't. His motives were religious in nature, so the admiration confuses me.

WS I agree to your post in some aspects, there's nothing wrong with those who risk their lives to save others everyday but it's just that some of those positions are abused for personal gain. But you're right, we shouldn't discredit those who don't.

but i have seen painting and seen videos of the guy b4. i didnt know the full history of what had bn behind that moment. mad props to that guy but also show same respect for the tank driver who did not run him over..
i know some tank drivers from various nations and even american that have ran over or attacked their own citizens ...
i am looking at the history of this, some of the soldiers also deserve respect for listening to the ppl and refusing to kill citizen since their purpose is to protect them and do them no harm..apparently an entire convoy refused to enter the city and kill the ppl b/c of a woman with a baby stood up to them and lectured them.. that takes brass and these soldier kids realizing what they had bn doing or were ordered to do was wrong
