I think that would entail him becoming shuma. Anyway, Gorath is far above Mephisto and G had to resort to eating his realm to win. I think shuma is more than he can eat and taking G at his average he is a bug compared to Shuma in his realm.

Galactus in that issue was far from 'fully powered'. Galactus wouldn't overload either, he has devoured bigger things.
