what characters can beat superman if the fight takes place in the comic books? (as opposed to the forums)

No one. Superman will always find a way to win. Superman can take out TOAA in a comic.

I take that back. Batman is the only one DC will ever let beat Superman.

All of the DC characters that have already defeated him in comics come to mind. The Silver Surfer too, cause even SM writers didn't believe he could win that one.
