Yeah, while it is extremely unfortunate that even their name is the movie's title, sadly, these movies promised to mainly be about Sam's life.

I'd love a movie strictly dedicated to them, but who knows when that'll happen.

It'll happen in 1986.

And it will rock.

A few thoughts.

Why is Megatron made into a ***** after the first film? Seriously, he trashes Prime in the first one, and then Prime makes him his ***** easily in the last two. All the while Megatron, following orders to two superior robots.

Starscream is supposed to be a *****, true, but not incompetent. The way Sam killed him was just moan-inducing.

Then, my biggest gripe was with the way Ironhide died. Like WTF.

I think these movies aside from impressive CGI-work and action sequences are total failures. All three of 'em.

The way Ironhide died was shitty, but it's not like they didn't do the same damn thing in the original animated Transformers movie. As for Megatron it didn't make much sense why he was so weak in the 2nd movie, but this one he was pretty much on the brink of death the whole time, he couldn't even turn into his flying form.

My biggest complaint was Soundwave, I accepted during the last film that he wasn't going to be as cool as the original, but I had hoped that they would do him some justice. Nope, instead we get

Spoiler:
Another decepticon with a raspy, evil, voice that is hardly even comparable to the original. And at the end he takes orders from the ****ing human?! What the hell? I've never been able to fathom wanting Soundwave to die before this movie.
That said this movie did have it's good parts, there were some comical scenes early on, at this point I'm not complaining about lack of transformer screen time because I've just accepted it. Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime is still as badass as ever, and he kicked enough ass in this movie to make me feel like I didn't throw my money into a hole. The first two hours or so of the film seemed to feel even less like Transformers than the first two, giving them barely any screen time. But the last 45 minutes of Autobot vs. Decepticon action was solid, if the whole franchise had been more like that then I think I would've enjoyed the series a lot more. Aside from some stupid things. Also, Leonard Nimoy was badass as Sentinel.

One way I can think of them being able to continue the series w/o a reboot would be to throw in Unicron and have him resurrect Megatron and the other Decepticons, like he did to Megatron in the 1980's film.

And the fact that Ironhide was meant to be one of Optimus' oldest friends, and the fact that Optimus is meant to be compassionate and loyal etc, made the fact that Optimus never even reacted to his death just stupid. Hell, if they had wanted to, they could have used Ironhide's death as a way to explain why Optimus was acting with murderous frenzy for the entire third act. I mean, I guess you could argue the Megatron thing was kinda justifiable, as you know, Megatron is portrayed as pure evil in these films, but executing a defenceless Sentinal was pretty much horribly unheroic.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd have been more interested in Optimus having a dilemma and balancing the fact he was angry about Ironhide with his compassionate nature, rather than an hour and a half of "Whitwicky complains about everything".

I think by the time optimus killed sentinel and megatron my mind was so numb with the screen being so busy I just didn't care anymore.

I thought it was the lamest one, though I appreciated that the robots were finally the freaking focus!

hello guys, thanks for sharing this thread.

:0 great

I recall G1 Prime in the comics being pretty brutal though, so I wasn't really bothered by bloodthirsty Prime.

Brutal? How so?

Trying to find a scan from the UK series, but having no luck. It was scan where he basically says they have to kill all Decepticons even if it costs the lives of every Autobot. Thought that was pretty Bayformer Prime of him.

i had no problem with

Spoiler:
optimus killing sentinel. he f*cking killed ironhide, ffs.. actually, sentinel sucker punched ironhide.. hell, he sucker killed ironhide.. a shot to head was an easy way out for sentinel.. if i was prime, i would brought that axe to sentinel's face, no hesitations..

I dont remember that at all I knew the run pretty well, whilst I'm flakey towards the end of the run.. Prowl however was effectively saying that in 'Crisis of Command' though. Whereby he was proposing that the Autobots use the Matrix to create some ultra death machines that would kill them all, but Prime objected as lots of damage would befall the humans and earth in general.

I remember that abit too, but there was a scan I saw floating around that reminded me of what I'm talkin' about. I even saw it surface recently on another board. Still currently looking for it again, but when I find it, I'll post it up here. It was nothing that bad, wasn't like Prime saying let's commit genocide and drink their blood, but it still made me go: "Goddamn, that's hardcore" Hahaha.

Fair play. 🙂

Here it is, managed to find it.

That last part. I thought it was pretty hardcore, drastic and a tad crazy, but they're at war so it makes sense. It's not on par iwth the whole: "We'll kill them all" but I was always under the impression Prime plays for keeps like he did in the Bay films.

Committed? Yes.

Sacrificing himself? Yes.

Wanting to effectively end the war for the good of others...? Sure.

Murderous/bloodthirsty like his taking out of Sentinel and Megatron?: I disagree. That was merely how the Ark came to be on Earth. After the descision, four million years later when he saw what he'd bought to earth, he spent the remainder of his days making up for it, withdrawing his troops from combat wherever the need would arise etc etc
It was from issue one.

Course, while not bloodthirsty, I meant overall committed, somewhat rash and all that jazz. I wonder if there's a 90's incarnation of Prime that was bloodthirsty. I remember when the Ninja Turtles had this:

Shit was weird.

Just looks like the original graphic novels to me.
The were awesome and VERY bloodthirsty.

I have the 1st edtion collected works form back i the day.
Much darker/grittier/nastier/cooler and like you say, weirder than that 'Hero Turtles' shit from the cartoon.
