That was said by Aizen when he was still a Shinigami with the Hogyoku embedded in his torso.
The version I am using is the one that was able to tank a level 90 hado, reform after a sure-kill technique, had *at least* Soifon level speed and could tank Kisuke's, Isshin's & Yuroichi's attacks. The same version that was able to apparently one-shot those 3 people who gave him more trouble than the other captains did.
Is this version capable of beating Yamamoto?
Aizen probably wins...
too bad he defeated the former captains off-panel when we could have gleaned his abilities, though of course, Tite is most likely saving Aizen's vulgar display of power for Ichigo...
as for shinigami Aizen, Yamamoto may indeed defeat him but it would be anything but a wtfpwn imo...
not entirely sure where Aizen's power now stands with his hogyoku formor whatever you want to call it, but he seems to be insanely powerful in comparison to his former shinigami self as he seemingly one-shoted Yourichi, Urahara, and Isshin.
perhaps Aizen could win this, but can't be sure until more feats are seen.
Aizen prepared for the battle against Yamamoto because that's how he works. He's a cautious tactician. Would Yamamoto defeat Aizen if it weren't for Extinguir? Yes, Aizen confirmed that.
But this isn't the same battle, this is Aizen in his Chrysalis stage, prior to his evolution. Considering that he was able to take level 90 kido without any damage, and further confirming that he was the only one who'd survive Kisuke's attack. Puts him over Yamamoto.
Question is, is Aizen able to take on the 0th division (Royal guard) by himself in his current stage? Probably, but would he be able to without completing his evolution?
Yamamoto is more than powerful enough to be in the 0th division, he does not because there would be none to replace him. He also confirmed that no Shinigami born in the past two thousand years is stronger than him, though that may be boasting.
As for none but Aizen being able to survive that Kido, that could very well just be boasting on Aizen's part, he has gotten very arrogant compared to before.

It blocks off your own reiatsu and the person is destroyed by their own reiatsu. Even Yamamoto would be destroyed due to such a move as his reiatsu is likely the greatest in SS.
Aizen got destroyed, but he was able to reform thanks to the Hogyouku.

The reason the blast didn't consume him--according to my interpretation--is because his power exceeds reiatsu. The same powers he used to destroy the koutotsu by will.

Oh yeah, I kinda forgot the specifics of the move. 😐That does not really prove Aizen is moar powerful though, it just shows his ability to reform.
He could still reform after sure-kill techs from Yamamoto.
He was also tanking some rather nasty hits from Yuroichi.

It might well be that the captain of the zeroth division is older than that.
