what do you guys think, should they be held accountable or released since they are Americans and felt they had good reasons for their actions?

poor orphans!! why wont someone think of the children!!.. besides the kids were also lied to by the missionaries and also they werent all orphans!!crylaugh0

I don't think they should be punished for what they did but be warned and ask to leave and never come back.

why not? they broke the law and deserve the consequences for breaking said law, they also did it knowingly after being told not to.
