No amp was mentioned in Final Crisis (Countdown included) as far as I remember. I could be mistaken though.
Seid was getting his ass kicked by Superman which is why he had to trigger the kryptonite thing that was placed inside of Olsen. He got his ass kicked by Marvel when Mary refused his offer and blasted him down - IIRC Eclipso was watching.
