Hahaha. You finally got to that part, huh? Well as bad as it was, it was a necessary action since it sets the scene for DA:I

Yeah. I just couldn't believe it. I actually liked him during Awakening, and I had hoped that he wasn't going to do something monumentally stupid even as he got more and more iffy.

What he ended up doing, though, was so far out of left field that I never saw it coming.

Sadly, though, I have to go back to act 2 even after finishing the game, seeing as the Isabela romance didn't work out properly, and I had to change an earlier dialogue choice.

Did you kill his crazy ass? >:]

****ing right I did. Knife in the back after he started talking about being a martyr.

The only reason I have any love for the guy at all anymore is due to me knowing that it wasn't all him.

I left him alive in a play through just to see what impact he'd have on Inquisition. Of course I killed him on the other though, lol.

hmm, good point. Might leave him alive this time.

There's also the fact that while what he did was very drastic and not well thought out, mages were treated horribly. They deserve better

Not really. Every mage in that cesspit of a city is an insane blood mage, just about.

I'm talking about mages in general. Like Wynn and Greagor and all the good mages you met. Like you will be labeled an Apostate, hunted down and either forcibly brought back or murdered if you don't want to live In a tower being constantly monitored to Big brother levels for the rest of your life.

Mages were oppressed, that much, imo, is true. They just don't help their cause very much when they freak out the way they do.

They wanted to be treated more fairly? Sure; they can be treated fairly. They just need to understand how bad they're made to look by people like Uldred and the like.

Anders basically becomes a terrorist by the end of the game, imo.

While I agree that Anders methods are way beyond what is necessary, a catalyst for change was needed because as bad as people like Uldred were, many of them were that way because of how unfairly they were treated. There's always gonna be guys like Uldred, but the Chantry only focuses on the bad and treats the good like it never happened or is supposed to happen. And while Uldred went bad, more than half the Elder Mage Council stood against him and he needed outside Blood Mages and to become an Abomination to even get as far as he did.

Connor never would have been possessed if his mom hadn't been scared to send him to the Circle. She was scared to send him to the Circle because it meant not only was there a 95% chance she'd never see her only child again, but he'd never be able to own land and take over Redcliffe. He'd be treated like a criminal constantly, and he'd be punished for even the slightest misstep. She knew how bad mages were treated and Connor got possessed because of the fear that was because of the Chantry's unfair treatment of mages.

All I'm saying is Mages need to be treated better, like actual people instead of weapons with hair triggers that can be punished if they misfire or make any sort of mistake. If that happened, it would cut down on a lot of the bad publicity mages get and a lot of the desperation from people like Anders, who made valid points in how his people were treated. Like if a guy sneaks out of the tower because he heard his mother is dying and he wants to see her one last time? BOOM! He's an apostate. We gotta hunt him down, bring him back dead or alive. His reasons don't matter. What matters is he disobeyed us, and for that he must be punished.

It's a vicious cycle. The mages feel oppressed, so they lash out with blood magic. mages using blood magic or just generally being dangerous, makes the Templars more fearful (especially seeing as, from what I can tell, blood magic is the one class of magic that they can't counter). That fear makes the Templars come down harsher on the mages, and the cycle repeats itself.

I'm not saying the circle is right, or that it's the answer; just that I can understand why the Templars do what they do (guard the circle, hunt apostates etc). even the good Templars, of which there are many, seem to be purely happy if they can get through the day without having to slay an abomination.
