KOS-MOS vs. Dark Samus

Bayonetta failed to stop her, will Dark Samus suffer the same fate?

Both at all abilities.

KOS-MOS loses if she's red eyed, but wins if she's blue eyed.

ermm umm... what

There's some kind of difference I think.

well nah dip neme doh

From what I can tell (haven't played the games), KOS-MOS has two modes of operation. Her normal red eyed form, and some other form with blue eyes that only appears when some specific character is in danger. Apparently the blue eyed form can destroy galaxies or something.

I loled.

Yeah, Kosmos has only ever destroyed a galaxy in a What If? alternate timeline, and even then, it was because she basically clashed with God, so I do not know why people assume it was Kosmos' power.

So KOS-MOS' only claim to High Herald in the ranking thread is a What If?

She can bust planets at her best I believe, and is sub-lightspeed to lightspeed.

Would like to see feats for this, as I know Xenosaga is ridiculously cutscene heavy.

Here's all her feats:

KOS-MOS as an archetype was pretty deadly. She tanks machinegun fire and starship bolts (though, this is most likely an old cliché where projectiles automatically misfire at a powerful character especially since archetype KOS-MOS gets wasted by a single magnum bullet) and can shoot a beam powerful enough to level building.

Just a taste at what KOS-MOS ver.1 can do. The aliens (Gnosis) she fights are intangible since they mostly exist in another plane (similar to the angels in Bayoneta). The only way to hurt them is bring them to the physical plane with the Hilbert Effect, which she can use at a greater radius than anything in her universe. At 5:30, it shows a pistol shot shattering the star ship glass. I highly doubt this is regular glass as this a warship. A recycling ship in the same game has “glass” that can withstand direct hits from debris.

1:19-2:26
Because someone may comment that they are just made of salt. As you can see, Gnosis don’t go down that easy as they can take a number of bullets before they drop dead. At 5:37, KOS-MOS sends a Gnosis flying and kicks another away.

YouTube video
6:23-6:45
KOS-MOS cracking a window designed to withstand small debris collisions.

YouTube video
4:50-5:29
KOS-MOS activates Mary’s consciousness (which is why her eyes are blue) and X-Busters an entire Gnosis fleet and absorbs him. This is something she can’t do when she has red eyes.

1:22-1:56
KOS-MOS with TWS in an alternate future. According to the Xenosaga wiki, she’s flying in sub-light speed and the impact with U-DO destroyed several galaxies. From my eyes, she’s not traveling fast and the impact at least destroys a planet. If she is flying sub-light speed, this is the only cutscene that proves she can do this. Other than that, it's mentioned in the game via the game's database (which I'm not gonna look for).

YouTube video
5:53-7:10
KOS-MOS uses a Phase Transfer Cannon to destroy a cloaking forcefield. As said in 3:53, it’s capable of destroying a star.

YouTube video
4:03-end
KOS-MOS survives atmospheric entry and has Mary’s consciousness activated (thanks to chaos) so that she can protect the Elsa (the ship shown in the video). When all is done, KOS-MOS is seen not damaged at all (though she loses her Hilbert Effect visor). It’s more clearly seen in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPX-uGv3Lv8&feature=related, at the very beginning.

YouTube video
2:55-3:40
KOS-MOS’s bike moves pretty fast and is capable of destroying a fleet of ships easily. This KOS-MOS seen is version 2. It can use the TWS, the wings and attachments seen on the alternate future KOS-MOS.

YouTube video
6:07-6:43
KOS-MOS uses the TWS to bring up a force field to shield the party from U-DO waves which were capable of disintegrating a planet-sized space fortress (which is shown later in the video).

5:01-5:38

KOS-MOS v.3 vs. Omega Res Novae
The video shows how fast and agile she is. She survives a class-100 blow and manages to knock down the giant robot with a kick.

YouTube video
KOS-MOS vs. T-elos
Although no match against her superior alterego, she manages to hold out well. In the end, she gets hit with a phase transfer cannon and appears to be undamaged but her internal damage is so severe that she would be no longer be operational.

YouTube video
At 2:15, KOS-MOS (now version 4) is able to give the Black Testament a fight. This cosmic being shrugs off bullets and railgun shots and easily handles two of the main characters.

YouTube video
KOS-MOS does a strike which actually does physical damage unlike the railgun shots which fail to get past the force field.

YouTube video
KOS-MOS vs. T-elos ROUND 2
KOS-MOS, now with Mary’s will fully awakened, is shown running on a wall and taking a barrage of blaster shots without any damage and then effortlessly catches a punch from T-elos.

YouTube video
KOS-MOS stops T-elos’s phase transfer cannon with one hand. T-elos uses a full-power phase transfer cannon but KOS-MOS stops it with her own and destroys her alterego. She then absorbs her.

YouTube video
3:20-3:31
KOS-MOS blocks a lethal shot with one hand (though it was most likely deadly enough to kill someone as weak as Allen).

YouTube video
7:19-7:33
KOS-MOS destroys a Gnosis ship (which is much smaller than it should be) by ramming into it while charging up her Phase Transfer Cannon.

YouTube video
6:56
Though badly damaged, what remained of KOS-MOS managed to survive suppressed destructive waves meant to wipe out the universe.

'k, here we go, then.

Metroid Prime could only be damaged by the Phazon Beam; all of Samus' other weapons bounced off. The Phazon Beam destabilizes Metroid Prime, and it absorbs Samus' Phazon Suit at 0:24 before exploding, taking out the Impact Crater and Chozo temple with.
At 5:30, Dark Samus is formed from the puddle of phazon.

YouTube video

7:30, Dark Samus is absorbing phazon, trying to grow stronger; this is her at her weakest. She is completely unaffected by Dark Aether's highly corrosive atmosphere, and the Ing do not attack her. She shatters a Light Crystal, attacking before Samus can react.

YouTube video

0:50, Dark Samus is still absorbing phazon, and shows agility on par with Samus. Both are able to dodge the other's shots.
5:20, Dark Samus' defeat shatters the containment screens.

YouTube video

7:05, Dark Samus reforms from particles and explodes at will.

YouTube video

10:10, Dark Samus destroys a bridge, not much else.

YouTube video

Dark Samus one-shots 3 Dark Pirate Commandos, and can become invisible. A scan notes that Dark Samus can reform her body from anything short of total atomic disruption.
9:03, breaks some glass.

YouTube video

1:06, Dark Samus creates a phazon wall. She can become invisible to even dimensional tracking, locatable only by sound. Scan says she's invulnerable to anything but phazon, but this is likely hyperbole or counting only Samus's current equipment. However, Samus' equipment includes a matter-antimatter cannon by this point.
8:56, Dark Aether collapses fully, being erased from existence with Dark Samus still inside.

YouTube video

3:46, Dark Samus reforms.

YouTube video

3:19, Dark Samus bursts through the tower, tanks multiple blasts from Ghor's plasma beam and Gandrayda before knocking down all but Samus, then blows all of them away and corrupts them.

YouTube video

4:36, Dark Samus can be seen directly possessing Rundas.
7:20, Dark Samus absorbs Rundas' body.

YouTube video

4:12, Dark Samus absorbs Ghor, demonstrating intangibility to even the Power Beam, which is known to strike other intangibles.
She also absorbs Gandrayda, but nothing new happens there.

YouTube video

1:30, Dark Samus can create Dark Echoes of herself, which retain her firepower but have less durability.
2:45, Dark Samus fuses with Aurora Unit 313.
8:50, Dark Samus is finally defeated, but this time her death destroys all of the planet Phaaze, erasing all phazon from existence.

Two things:

1) Holy Miyamoto that's a lot of videos!

2) This is how debates should done. Plenty of evidence and examples here, that's for sure.

All that evidence proves:

Red-eyes KOS-MOS's best bet is that Phase Transfer cannon but good luck to her if Dark Samus clones herself and the risk that the attack may not be enough. At least Blue Eyes can at least eat her with the vacuum X-Buster.

This thread is the definition of tl;dr.

I'd still say Dark Samus has some advantage with invisibility, clones, and regeneration. There's also that sometimes intangibility and her possession abilities. Oh, and corruption, so I don't think eating her would be a good idea.

Weaponized phazon can tear things apart at the atomic level (which is one of the reasons it's effective against Dark Samus), and even normal phazon can vaporize things that touch it. Quite a bit of KOS-MOS' higher end stuff is fairly slow firing or charged, like the X-Buster.

Dark Samus also has some more mysterious feats. One Pirate log states that she can teleport when she hasn't displayed this ability, unless you count the exploding into particles thing. There's also something from at two different logs.

http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/SkyTown_Data#Loss
http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Pirate_Data#The_Source_Discovered

The first one includes the words "nearby" and "galaxy" in the same sentence, but then goes on to state that one planet, Phaaze, is incredibly far away. In the other, Dark Samus reaches Phaaze within an appreciable time frame, by which I mean less than several centuries. Either Dark Samus is massively FTL, can teleport across galaxies, or can possibly create wormholes.

Interesting.....
