Harvey Pekar

Hey comic book fans,

We just wanted to send out our condolences to Harvey Pekar and his family after his passing yesterday. Pekar, as many as you know, wrote the comic book series ‘American Splendor,’ depicting his life in Cleveland in the 70’s. BlogTalkRadio welcomed Harvey Pekar less than a month before he passed away, you can listen to his radio interview and read more about his career. You can e-mail me at [email protected] for the link or you can to blog talk radio . com and search Harvey Pekar. Thanks

Been meaning to read some of his work. As of now, I've only seen the film based on his life, also called "American Splendor." It was pretty great and made me interested in his writings.

Shame he died, but I guess everyone goes at some point. May he rest in peace.

Just bought the DVD of American Splendor on the weekend, after seeing it on the big screen in 2003. Harvey Pekar: Professional A**hole could have been the title. 😄

If anyone hasn't seen the late-80's documentary Comic Book Confidential, do so. Pekar and dozens of others are interviewed, and it gives equal time to the mainstream and the underground comic world.
