List of Asian American Superheroes? (RULES)

Can anyone give me a list of at least 10 or more Asian (excluding Indians and Middle Eastern ethnicity) American Comic book superheroes?

Here are the rules for this one since I'm tired of people screwing up on the listings on other forums:

1. They have to be purely of Asian decent and must not have white, black, or alien blood or it doesn't count really because then they just are categorized as " Mixed Race" Superheroes.------> Looking at you Karate Kid and Shang-Chi.

2. The 10 heroes you list cannot be super heroes from another country working to assist the United States, ie. Born and raised in China for most of their life, comes to U.S. to assist in crime control, etc. ----> Shang-Chi.

These guys don't count as Asian Americans unless they are NATURALIZED citizens. I apologize for the caps lock.

3. The 10 heroes you list cannot be from any Anime or Manga source.

4. The Heroes you list cannot be of FEMALE origin. I think it's unfair when Marvel and DC has more Asian heroes that are females because of their sex appeal due to their gender, which I find disgusted because the male Asian super hero is never treated in that like and I feel our women are being taken for granted.

I think I made myself clearly on those rules. I find it difficult myself to name 10 Asian-American MALE super heroes, or heroes.

Discrimination against Asian American heroes in Marvel, DC, or any other American comic book publishing companies? I hope not if you guys can find at least 10 or more MALE Asian American Super heroes.

I must admit I can´t name a single one, and don´t really give a toss to be honest. The best superhero´s are from the US or Uk (Superman, Spiderman, Judge dredd, etc..)

Not to be sexist, but females in comics are usually regarded as a marketing tool in order to draw in the (Majority) male audience to buy more comics from major comic companies like DC and Marvel.

Besides, whenever I see an Asian American female used to attract the male audience in mainstream comics, it sickens me because this parallels how Asiam American women are viewed in the real world entertainment industry...you're right. I may be a little bit of a sexist, but where is the respect and glorification of Male Asian American men in American main stream comics?

Discrimination at it's highest. It just proves how Marvel and other major comic companies in the US (also Hollywood)discriminate against the Asiam Male due to what's happened in the past.

Of course there are tons of them if we drop the absurd "no Asians from Asia" rule. Not to mention that Asians who live outside of Asia are fairly likely to have mixed race kids. Between those two unrealistic restrictions you cut away the vast majority of Asian characters, making their numbers seem artifically low.

I'm not discriminating against Asian heroes myself here. Marvel and DC wouldn't discriminate against Asians but what about Asian Americans? Why are they under represented so much in the main stream comic book community? Are they too "Asian" too be an American? Is that the reason why marvel and DC have created few to none Male Asian American heroes yet?

This thread is about ASIAN AMERICAN super heroes, not ASIAN super heroes

Ryan Choi - Born in Hong Kong. Not a naturalized citizen of the U.S. if I recall so he's out of the question here.

Amadeus Cho - Researched him on the web but sites like Comic Vine or Wikepidea haven't given me much info on his background info.

Bushido - Born in Japan. Not a naturalized American Asian

Grunge - Born in Hong Kong. Raised in Chago. Don't know if he's a naturalized American. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one

Kato ( Green Hornet ) - Where he is born and whether or nor he is American is unknown. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

Grail - Wild storm grail? He's Filipino but not American on the sites I've read about him.

So you've got 3 un-naturalized characters of asian decent plus another 3 unknowns if they're Americans or not

Just shows how the major comic book companies look down upon Asian American Males.

Besides, you've also got an Ad of a Black Dude and an Asian Girl on the top hand screen of this site, yet the opposite doesn't occur between Asian Men or Black girls, not any other girls of other races other than ASIAN.

Does America seriously look down upon Male Asian American Heroes and Asian American men in general so much?

Can you give me a source to prove that Amadeus is an Asian American man as you say he is?

All female superheroe comic book characters are used for their sex appeal, you're just no hung up about the ones that arent asian.

There are tons of other very specific populational groups minoritary in the usa that don't have 10 heroes either, specially if you can only count one gender. The representation of populational minorities in the usa among superheroes is probably not actually representative of its real world demography, but I think that just overepresents white anglo-saxons while downplaying all other groups (probably because because most writers are white). How many black american or chicano x-men can you name?

Even then, 'purely asian' american born heroes that have no mixed blood whatsoever are too specific for you to ask for ten. Arent most asian-americans of 'mixed race' anyway?

This rant about the comics keeping the male americans of "mongolic" asian descent down while valuing male asian and mixed "race" characters characters is not very convincing either. Asian-americans are a relativelly small demographic in the usa and characters from outside the usa have the appeal of the exotic to americans and make comics less us centric and more apealing to international markets - Marvel has got this down better than DC.

His father specifically sent him to America to hide him, it would be bizarre if he didn't become a citizen.

No, it shows that they have a small number of asian american males of un-mixed racial heritage that operate primarily in the western world. Which makes sense, you've defined an incredibly specific set of people. The only group that fits in is first or second generation immigrants, after that it starts to become progressively more realistic for them to have one black, white, arab or moon person parent than to not. At the same time if you want a new character that doesn't have much family in the West you just make them from Asia since the effect is more pronounced and easier to work with.

You also have to remember that like all publishing comics are a margin business. A new character that gets his own book is a huge gamble so they mostly stick to established characters (nearly all white or comically racist due to the era) or legacy characters (often white, as they tend to be children of the old characters). The result is that racial diversity typical appears in team books or minor characters. No conspiracy or hatred, just a system that requires a lot of time to adjust.

lets add jubilee(genX & X-men) american born mall rat chinese descent and psuedo daughter to wolverine...

also have Sunfire would be Cousin to Wolverine had he married Mariko Yashida. Silver Samurai is brother to Mariko and clan brother to wolverine as well. all three are Japanese.

wolverine's entire family cast is almost all Asians... his daughter Amiko, girlfriend Yukio... plus some of his enemies are mostly asians as well

You missed DA RULES.

No women. Apparently in the West asian women exist only as sex objects and thus don't count as asian superheroes for some reason.

Villains aren't heroes either, they simply prove that in America everyone hates asian men.

No asians from Asia either, this thread is about asian americans only.

Well, lets estimate that to see if you actually have a point or not.

There are 14 million Asian Americans in the US. That's quite a lot.

Now lets take 3 million of those away cause you don't allow Fillipinos. 11 million. Not bad, still quite a lot.

Now we take another 5 million away for non naturalized and mixed race. 6 million, getting somewhat lower, but you still might have a point.

But wait, you only count males so that's 3 million US Americans (max) who fit your profile. Now there's about 300 000 000 Americans, excluding the Asian stemming ones, in the US. So for every 100 non-asian heroes there should be 1 American Asian Male one.

So...you name 100 heroes, I'll tell you one that fits your description (remember only US Americans...NO ALIENS).

GO!
