Basic Knowledge
Each side receives basic knowledge of the other. A good measure of this would be what the general population of the character's homeworld knows. For example, that Superman has a weakness to Kryptonite is general knowledge, but that he's Clark Kent is not.

If spidey were swift up in some crazy joker plot, like in a comic, I actually think joker would be victorious.

joker can be compared to green goblin best, except a little less capable in a fight (as far as parker is concerned)

Yup, in a forum battle there's a thing called spider-sense and 40x human reflexes that means Joker would never, ever, be able to hit SM with joker gas.

In relation to comics, yes. Because in theory it should always alert him to danger. In comics, writers need him to get hit by things he should dodge a fair amount of time. So it gets turned off entirely for plot purposes, and remembered in full when Spidey needs to down something. It's rarely very noticeable, so it's a handy device for writers.

and to be honest if his spidey sense worked every single time someone tries to attack him that would make things to easy and there would be no competition for peter in the comics.
