Does the five second rule count for mashed potatos?

I mean i've lived by the rule but mashed potatos just kinda splatter. I've had this discussion before but we never came to a conclusion.

It would be hard to effectively pick up mashed potatoes in only five seconds.

Skittles seem to be a good choice for floor dropping.

I never understood this "rule"

The 5 second rule is bullshit.
