It's kind of cool no one has done this idea for the cinema before.
Closest thing in pop culture would be the original novel of War Of The Worlds, set in Victorian England.
You got to have faith in Jon Favreau; he knows how to make an idea like this seem plausible.

Looks so much better than Green Lantern. Craig is channeling all sorts of Steve McQueen.
