Avatar: The Legend of Korra

On Nick's website they explain the history of Airbending. Lion Turtles give the powers, they learn to best utilize them by studying the Bison. Basically the Sun Warriors philosophy of learning from dragons, just Bison instead.

And the reason the Bison can fly is because the original benders tend to be more powerful, if a bit limited. From a sheer tonnage perspective, the Moon is the most powerful bender in the series(go Yue) as it bends the tides at every second of the day. Still couldn't stop Zhao from torching the spirit with a single blast of fire. Bison can fly but not much else, the Dragons can breathe tons of fire but it is by no means too hard for a bender to manipulate that fire to more complex shapes, and the Badger Mole's earth sense could be emulated by a human.

So the three animals, a freak natural evolution?

Basically yeah. Unless the Lion Turtles gave them bending for some reason.

We need a really cool Sandbender for the series.

I want Koh the Face Stealer to appear.

Since sand is only common in one specific area in the Avatar world, this really cool sandbender should use a gourd to carry sand in.

He was breaking down because his plans were ruined. He was grasping for a straw to prove his worldview right and probably to convince himself that his waifu didn't die for nothing.

Which doesn't really contradict what I said. So much for being 'beyond earthly desires.'

Why are Sky Bison capable of flight, but not most air-benders?

In the same way that Badger Moles could sense vibrations through the earth while humans (until Toph and her subsequent students/progeny anyway) couldn't, so to can Air Bison do something that all but two humans (Lagshmi and Zaheer) could do.

It's a matter of natural affinity for their elements that most humans don't have the patience/skill/inclination for.

I knew there was something up with that *****!

Yeah she just screamed evil for some reason.

The music that accompanied her name's reveal is the likely reason. Was foreboding.

This sounds dumb but whatever...as long as we get some bending action all should be well.

next season will probably be toned down in terms of threat level, with the focus being on Korra getting better fixing the spirit problem. There will likely be a large number of "weak" foes to deal with.

Next book's the last one, so I sincerely hope that isn't the case, at least for the entire book. The Red Lotus is still there.

the Red Lotus is who i was referring. They're probably large in number but not nearly as powerful/skilled as Zaheer and co.

has that been confirmed?

Unalaq was probably as powerful as the weakest member in Zaheer's gang, so I doubt there are no benders within the Red Lotus that will prove to be as threatening as Zaheer and his gang.

At the very least though, I hope there is someone who threatens the good guys the way Zaheer did. Not from a purely 'power' perspective.

Red Lotus or last book?

Zuko implies there are Red Lotus members still out there.

Legend of Korra was supposed to have 52 episodes. We've already seen 39. Each Book runs for roughly 13 episodes.

The series ending,

I wonder how much intrest there is in a modern Earth nation Avatar, i kinda have a feeling if they choose to keep milking this we get a prequel which i have no real intrest in.

I just hope the new Red Lotus members have a new goal. If they're simply going for more anarchy and killing the Avatar then they're going to be compared to Zaheer's gang. Which is a dangerous thing for the new villains.
