I don't think that's a defined standard on what causes people to pause.

Oh, and there's not a snowball's chance in hell that Hercules is taking all of these people at once.

Herc probably takes out the lesser fighters and/or non team players, but then the experienced fighters (Thing, She hulk, Namor, Colossus) step up to the plate and clean his clock.
