Does the most heroic act have to be a real life act or a fictional one from the movies or TV etc? Obviously the fictional ones will appear to be more heroic and dramatic like blowing up a deathstar without using the targetting computer and only having a 2 metre hole to aim for. Whereas the everyday life ones might be a complete stranger diving into a freezing cold water on a stormy night in winter with the winds blowing massive waves around to swim out and save the life of a stranded teenager when the firemen on scene said it was too dangeous to do so, and in doing so ended up in hospital themselves oo.

I know the person who was saved so this act meant a lot to me because years later this person was an important part of my life.

Ofcourse only real ones count. Fictional already don't impress me THAT much.
Though there are some real ones wich outpace the movie's ones

In that case I favour the one I posted just now because it directly affected later aspects of my life. I know the allies in the wars and the brave acts in other battles and wars could be viewed as affecting my life indirectly but this was definately directly.

i hate wars. The war heroes are heroes in a restricted circle for all i care

a war hero,The Red Baron....

Most generally, war heroes are only heroes to the country they fought for..
