its what marketing ppl do. they use ambiguous race ppl and sometimes looks to attract ppl to their product without alienating them.
if you put out a product and have a black model it and ppl dont know what it is they will assume it is probably to target blacks...
same with brown or white women.. so they use ambiguous women whose race is hard to tell from white,brown or asian.. to attract ppl and peak their interest.
most races have a hard time discerning another race apart even if they have traumatic encounters... something to do with our facial recognition ability and how our brain works..
that man is a drawing that is it... whether he is based on a real person or not many ppl can find features of other ppl matching that drawing b/c they want to and see what they wanna see..
if i draw a black face with the generic features make him bald you will try to put that face to various ppl even if it isnt based on anyone.

I'd prefer to call it an amalgamation of masculine traits...but not necessarily attractive ones.
Apart from it probably being bullshit, anyways, I think there are a couple of reasons why it might work, for one our memories especially of dreams are incredibly flimsy, we could easily insert the face in a heartbeat without ever knowing and completely believing it. Additionally, it is basically a simple comic drawing, not very specific at all, it could in one or another way fit a multitude of people, with our minds making up the rest.
