It’s time for King Kandy’s Tournament! No, no fancy names. It's been a while since we've had one, even longer since it was one at this tier. Anyone from experts to first-timers is encouraged. It's in singles.

Rules:

1. The cap is low herald. And my idea of low herald is basically Captain Mar-Vell. Try to keep your picks around that level or lower.

2. Contestants will select teams of three characters, no amalgamation.

3. If I’m allowed to, manga will be able to be selected in this tourney. However, anime will not. No other genres would be allowed on account of the fact that I would probably not be informed enough to make good decisions.

4. No posting limit (free form posting, instead).

5. 20 minutes of prep pre-fight, hosted in the ‘home base’ of one character on your team (however, if certain bases are considered too abusable with this rule, the character will be allowed but not his base.)

6. No time manipulation.

7. No insta-kill tactics such as teleporting into solid objects. Even if an attack isn’t instantaneous, any attack that could, as a matter of its nature, not be defended against is considered this.

8. Characters will not have knowledge of who they are fighting pre-fight. In battle, they will only be able to know things if the two characters already knew each other.

9. Non-offensive matter manipulation is allowed.

10. No duplication.

11. No power copying in any way.

12. Only experience carries from previous fights, and only information you could have reasonably discovered in the fight is learned.

13. No immortal characters. Characters drafted should be able to be defeated by reasonably accessible means. Healing factors strong enough to blur the line with this are also banned.

14. While battlefields will change, it is assumed that nobody can leave the whole of the battlefield by any means. This also means no BFR or self-BFR. If you fly too far, you hit an impenetrable wall.

15. No reality warping.

16. “Spirit of the Law” is to be followed. Anything that may not technically be one of these things, but is used to achieve the same purpose as them is banned. Inversely, things that may technically be one of these rules, but would clearly not cause the problems associated with them, may be allowed.

17. Rules may be changed if certain strategies become an obvious problem.

IS this like evangels tourneys a few years ago?

In the fact that they are both tourneys, yes. The rules aren't the same. BTW, there's usually been 2 tourneys per year at least... Evangel's was far from the most recent.

I understand that.So we just choose 3 low heralds?

Well, low herald, or less than that.

BTW, questions should go in the battlezone thread.

For examples of tourneys, check the tourney respect thread or the tourney discussion thread in the battlezone forum, or just kinda peruse that forum.

Yeah, that's definitely a good idea. There are also guides to what to expect in tournaments in the respect thread.

I think newcomers should step up to the tournaments. It used to be that tournaments were constantly filled with new competitors but recently its been the same old mix of people. I can pretty much predict what type of characters certain people are going to draft nowadays and frankly it gets repetitive. We need people to infuse new life in the tournaments and hopefully someone will man up (or woman up) and take the challenge.

So, if you are not joining because you think you might not win, dont worry about that. Its about enjoying yourself in a setting that has more focus than your normal Vs debate. Besides, you could always win on your first try. Its been done before.

I enter in Colossus C, he wants to join.

Yeah. Nobody will think less of you if you join and lose. I lost all the time when I started, and I still haven't pulled off a tourney win yet.

Not only it is fun but a good way to broaden ones comic knowledge..

Come-on guys/gals join up.. ✅

Is it like regular battlezone?Cuz I still don't get that at all...how to do it I mean.

What is a low herald? If I knew what it was I might do it.

Well I took that from the beggining of the mixed-cross genre thread so it might be out of date but...eh.

Well I kind of see Mar-Vell as the low herald cap myself. BTW Parker, remember that it's not just the characters on that list, but any character with power around equal to theirs.

I'm gonna unpin this thread Kandy. Let me know if you need it pinned again.
