If I am not mistaken, she had some time between her house caving in and her arrival at the school in her past, then she would likely have been a thief and that would be the nice end of all of her crimes. the rest of the crimes are open for interpretation, the only catch is, she has always been strong and has always done whatever it takes to survive. always.
edit: i say that because it hastn been brought up, figure some of it she doesnt want to remember, innocents she has killed in the name of survival, places she has stolen from all of that.
Sorry its taking me so long to respond to you, Champ. I'll get on it ASAP.
On a different note; I was reading up on some characters from various literature and film/television and I was astonished. Astonished at how they came to be, what they were meant to be and how they've grown as characters in their respective places in books, movies and TV shows. It really made me want t better my characters so whoever decides to read or reread through this, they can say that I've put some work into what I've created.
I know that sounds cheesy and corny but I'm an aspiring writer and I love character development as you all know. I also say this to hopefully inspire you guys to do the same with your characters.
I realize that this is just a story online written by a bunch of people, most of which, who don't know each other personally and probably never will. But that doesn't mean we should just slap something together. That would he a waste of time for one and stupid for another. And characters are one of the main components that makes something great. So I'm gonna do my part to make my various characters even better: personality wise, as a person/character, their powers and abilities and their personal story lines. I can only hope you all will aim to do the same.
Theres nothing to the characters. Theres little to no plot. No one knows who they are or what they are trying to do. There arent any goals set for each character. No quirks. No, how do I put this... Theres no order to the story or to the characters. Its random and messy. People are all over the place. Characters are noticing things they arent suppose to notice. Feeling things they arent suppose to feel. I can name 3 characters off the top of my head to apparently have the force because they can 'sense' things and all the sudden go to where stuff is happening even though they shouldnt have any clue as to what is going on. It drives me crazy.

Originally posted by DangerousBeautyI understand how you feel, DB. But that's what happens when you have a lot of people with a lot of opinions working on one thing together. Everyone wants in on the action. I feel the same way but I know and expect it.

Everyone who partakes in this specific RP knows that they want their character(s) to be the coolest or most powerful or to be in love but met of us aren't willing to work at it. And although there is a general plot, (which is listed at the beginning of this particular thread), no one knows what's going on or what's about to happen or they want to try out their own specific plot.
I personally believe that that's my fault in the long run. I've said what I want to happen as a general outline to the story but haven't made a move towards for the most part. I talk about character development and character progression but have let just about everything slide. I guess I was just worried about people getting bored and not posting. I also think I was worried about how the main plot would he handled.
I'm not gonna lie. I'm sort of a perfectionist when it comes to writing. I want all the details to be correct. All the characters in a story to be actual characters that someone would read about and think that they could actually meet somewhere. You know, minus the superpowers 😛 But I also realize that when you have a bunch of people working on something together, you have to work with all those personalities and agree upon a common....something. Otherwise, nothing will work.
On the other hand, we do need something to work on and we do need someone to helm it. I think I've done a decent job in working with everyone's personal ideas. And I've beat that whole character development thing to death. But I'm gonna stick to it until I see more effort. I like how the whole "starting to build realistic relationships" thing is going. We're all gonna stick with that.
But I'm gonna be harder everyone to get this character development thing down and I'm gonna do my best to get to the point of this RP in a realistic way. If something doesn't sit right with me, I'm gonna send you a PM to discuss it and I would like to expect the same from all of you guys and gals. This RP was approved a year ago and has basically gone nowhere. That's gonna end.
I think everyone knows that I don't have a problem taking over characters that go unused but I would really like for everyone to stay and work with me. However, if you wanna leave, I'll miss ya. I wont beg anyone to stay if they don't agree on certain things. But I've beat around the bush for too long. Its time to get this thing started. And that's what I'm gonna do.
I'm not gonna tell anyone where to take their characters because that's up to all of you. I just ask that you all look at your characters and see how you can make them grow as a "person". Like how you yourselves are continuously becoming who you are.
That your characters have ups and downs, highs and lows. That you give them an actual personality that hose beyond just listing it in their character sheets. There's not too many characters here who have stayed true to the listed qualities on their CS. I myself have strayed away with some of my characters.
I recently told someone that when you make a character, stick to what you've posted on their CS and take it from there. I know that its hard to write something that doesn't have anything to do with action but here's the thing: every character isn't and shouldn't be involved in the action. I didn't make this RP for everyone to be a hero. What would be the point of that?
Just because your character possesses a special power, that shouldn't be what makes them a character. In real life, does the fact that someone is a firefighter make them a person? Does a police officer exist only because he's/she's carries a badge and cuffs? Do those fact define them as a person? No. They were people with lives and emotions and experiences before they became firefighters and officers of the law. And they are the very same people they were before, before they put on their uniforms.
The point I'm trying to make is that just because your character(s) have special powers, you shouldn't just focus on that. What makes them tick? What makes them do the things they do? What are their likes/dislikes? What are some quirks about them? How do they feel about have superpowers? Not everyone would like that. How do they feel living away from their families? How do they interact with their families? If you guys and gals were in your character's position- superpowers, living at a school with people who also have powers, interacting with people you'd never meet if you didn't have any special powers- who would you feel? What would you do? How would you attempt to stay true to yourself?
I know its asking a lot for a simple online game but you all signed up for this with me holding the reigns. And I'm not saying you should cater to every little detail. I'm saying you should MAKE some little details. It could work out for the best.
