Aaron dismissed the girl's hectic thoughts and ignored her brutal comment. "I think you need to calm down, Rock. I'm not here to argue or fight with you. I simply want to ask you a few questions." Even though he was the one that approached her, Aaron was quickly growing annoyed with Rock.
"I want to know how you did it? How'd you get my father to show you any kind of emotion? He never once smiled at me. Or frowned. Or yelled or anything. Yet he's able to treat you like you're so important. I read his mind when I returned. I know how much you means to him. So I'm asking he you did it?
"And don't give me that 'you went crazy' shtick because we both know you're not crazy at all. You let people think you are because you crave attention." He wasn't trying to go there, but Aaron couldn't help but pull this from Rock's mind. "You always felt so slighted and ignored in your life. You never had a family because you were genetically engineered in a place you don't like to remember.
"You were made for a specific reason but because you developed you own personality, you escaped from that place that created you to be a weapon and nothing more. No one ever loved you and that was all you wanted. You made your way here because you thought you fit in with everyone else but you never did. You were too dangerous and violent and unstable."
Aaron didn't know if what he was saying was true or not but he felt so relieved to say it. It was as if these emotions were locked ujp inside him for so long that he couldn't stop himself from saying them. He knew these were Rock's emotions but had no idea why he had tapped into them. He was also creating images in both their minds that corresponded to what he was saying to and feeling from the girl.
"Lance was he first one to show you any sort of emotional response so you felt drawn to him. You didn't want him to leave you so you did things that made him feel responsible for you. And if he felt responsible for you, he wouldn't leave you."
Then the image of Pintar and his mirror world came into both their minds. "When Pintar tried to make you think you killed Lance, you knew that was a trick. Lance was trying to convince you he was alive but you were so determined to make him stay that you actually drove him away. And when he did leave, you knew it was your fault. So you did everything you could think of that would make him come back."
The memory of Rock attempting to bring down the school flashed across their minds followed swiftly by being held in the school's brig and depowered by Ben. "That's when you tried to convince people you were crazy. Surely if enough people thought that, word you get to Lance and he would return. If he came back, everything would be alright. But he didn't come back. And you were too weak to be strong that you almost made yourself believe you were crazy. Too weak to even defend yourself."
More memories flooded them ranging from Rock's transfer to the mental institution to Donny's abuse to the self inflicted abuse she was causing to herself. When Aaron was finally able to regain control of himself from all of Rock's pinned up emotions, he didn't know what to say.
This girl had been through so much just to feel loved by someone. He felt a deep pity for her considering the fact that she figured that she brought it on herself. He himself wasn't able to figure out what was her fault and what wasn't. Be one thing he was sure of was the fact that Rock wasn't crazy in the least. He looked at her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that. Your emotions were just so strong that my telepathy picked up on them and they came out through me because you would never release them.
"You shouldn't do that to yourself," Aaron said in a disapproving tone. "Its not healthy for you and that's why you don't have anyone. Because you yourself force them away and you know it. You need to get yourself together because what's gonna happen if my father leaves again? What are you gonna do?" She would be alone for the rest of her life if she stays the way she is. He shook his head mournfully for the girl but waited for her response.
