"I don't think that went nearly as well as you had wanted it to. She very nearly did side with him against you."
"But it didn't happen. You worry too much. I can handle myself," Rand replies, taking a seat. Gallador simply frowns, and paces the room.
"You know that he offered to help me if you ever decided to turn on me, yes?" he asks, pausing for a moment.
"Of course, you told me of that. What of it?" Rand says non-chalantly.
"Do you think I'll be the only one he's going to approach in such a way? It's as you said, he is no leader, and his power is unforced, but he has the experience of having to make his own way, and he is quite a talented fighter," Gallador states. "And Rianna won't be so easily intimidated much longer."
"It would take both of them to even try and defeat me, and even that is no guarantee," Rand replies, though he seems slightly more troubled now.
"No, it's not. But it's enough of a chance that it could happen," Gallador says. "You'd best be careful and not take so much for granted. I said before that this would be a mistake."
Rand sits in silence, not responding to that, and after a few more minutes Gallador leaves. The former Jedi Master still does not speak, but instead stares off into space, a thoughtful and slightly troubled look on his face; had he indeed commited such an error?
