1. Could he defeat the Silver Surfer?

2. How long would he last in a battle with the Silver Surfer, if they fought under these terms?

Surfer he would last 5 min at best.

What about the bands ability to lock down power types?

Colossus for all his strategic ability still comes down to a fight style dedicated to getting close to your face and beating you to a pulp. Hard to say how he would use energy attacks and manipulation beyond his physical self.

Well if he's been using them for years, he knows their capabilities, and would know to use them when he needed them. So he could do the power lock if he needed to, and he more than likely would.
