Thanos has the power necessary to destroy his body.That counts as a board win. You don't have to kill him for all time and there's no way to even kill Thanos here where he cannot return unlike Nekron.
He's not unkillable. His powers were given by Death and can be taken away.
Thanos does not have the specific powers needed to defeat Nekron.

I have no doubt that Thanos is "powerful." But unfortunately for him, he doesn't have the right kind of power to take Nekron down..

In many of their encounters Darkseid dominates Clark. Anyway, if you don't agree with Darkseid then Nekron revives HP Doomsday. Then Doomsday rips apart Thanos. See its that simple. Nekron doesn't need to get his hands dirty 🙂
