mjolnir screw up

why did Marvel make thor's hammer an object that can be lifted by others besides thor? No one, but thor should be able to lift it IMO. Doesn't germanic and norse religion say that only he can lift it not if he be worthy?

thor can lift it, but the original punishment of odin granted mortals the ability to lift the hammer, if they were worthy of coarse. that opened the floodgates

brb's hammer stormbreaker doesn't have that "flaw" cause odin enchanted it for only bill to carry, bill wasn't being a pompous prick so he didn't need to be punished.

The enchantment that one must be 'worthy' to lift mjolnir, is a creation of Marvel Comics. In mythology, the hammer is so heavy only Thor can lift it, and used a pair of iron gloves to use it in battle.
The enchantment was put upon the hammer as a test also, to be worthy to wield the hammer when he came of age.

I recall some Jotun stealing it for instance. They certainly weren't "worthy" yet they carried it off.
